Nobody talks like that in england.

Yeah, You'd get called a retard, and then probably beaten up for being a smart ass.
Presence is a curious thing, if you think you need to prove it... you probably never had it in the first place.

It's easy to call another nation's population ignorant. It's also funny that in doing so, you become ignorant by pointing fingers at a situation you know nothing about.
At least, as Americans, we don't give much thought to your leaders. However, that never seems to be the case for other nations. Our leaders are all looked down upon and judged by outsiders. Granted, some of this comes from the fact that America seems to want to be the world's police. However, we could look intently into your politics and give you our opinions on your government, but we don't.
As far as the "world police" thing goes... I don't necessarily agree with it, but there's always going to be one nation that leads in the world's politics. Honestly, would you rather that be China or Russia at this point? No other nation really has the power to "run" the world. Again, not that I view this as correct, but there's not much else you can do about it. Obviously, the UN is worthless.
Another thing, many many many nations call out to the US for help, whether it be to use military force to smother some resistance or financial aid, America is asked to be the world's savior. I find this funny that we're supposed to both be the savior, but we're supposed to back off when it comes to foreign affairs? Get real. If we're spending money and resources to help other countries, we're going to be in the foreign affairs of those countries. We're going to protect our investments. If you don't want us hoarding the power in world politics, maybe your whiny countries should step up.
If you truly want the US to just be another country in the world's politics instead of THE country, maybe you should stop singling us out. You back us into a corner, we're going to flex our muscles. Do you expect us to just bow to your demands when you have no presence in the world political arena?
Finally, there's no point in trying to suggest that one nation's better than the other. We all have our pros and cons. No need to be arrogant and try to profess your nation's supremacy. That shit just fuels hatred for one another and gets us farther away from "peace" than understanding each other would.
whoa.

Jake....honey I love you, but most the world looks down on your leaders because your leaders have never let the world forget they exist. The USA claims to be the worlds ONLY superpower. If that is in fact the case then of course every other country will critise you/your leadership it's what happens when people get elevated on to pedestals, just don't look down you'll be ok.
I've lived in the USA and I currently live in the UK and I can firmly say BOTH GOVERNMENTS SUCK!
NEXT STOP CANADA.
As for UK > US
People from the US think that English people are all TALLY HOE and Mary Poppins with bad teeth. OMG U CAN'T SPELL WHY DO YOU PUT U IN NEIGHBOR AND LABOR
People from the UK think Americans are all inbred rednecks with bad education and worse knowledge of life.OMG YOU CANT SPELL WHY DONT YOU PUT U IN NEIGHBOUR AND LABOUR
They are called stereotypes.....give each other some credit. The world is more diverse than that!
I hate America coz I had a really poor experience there and it just brings back bad memories and feelings so I cut off my nose to spite my face and vowed never to return. But I love most of it's people......I have my reasons.
I love England because it's my home country, place of birth and we have healthcare but I hate alot of it's people.....see my point?
You have a God given right to be stupid. Please do not abuse this right!

Memphis wrote on Sun, 18 November 2007 10:23 | Although this isn't too relevant here I do actually respect Russia for standing up to the US on certain matters. I can to some degree see Russia becoming a new super power within Europe. Russia now has the money it build itself up once again and I don't think that's any bad thing. You will get people saying there will be a 'cold war 2' but I don't believe a word of it to be honest. Russia's resources with a bit of luck will one day be used for positive means. I am by no means saying Russia are perfect but I think they have cleaned their image up quite a bit bar a few fuck ups (everyone is human...).
|
So when Russia blackmails half of Europe with their natural gas resources....will you still respect them?

random trivia i cant remember the exact timeline, but i think it was about a month after independance day befor UK new about it.
personally i cant blame americans wanting indepandance, hell if you were being taxed by a government so far away that didnt really give you anything wouldnt you? and as for the american leaders at the time it was a very smart thing, they gained lots of power and money.
at this point i think i should say i like america, i think its brilliant, i go there for my holidays and am goin to florida next summer. i jus think its a bit odd that you can but a gun befor you can drink. also the current government seems to be a bit of a warmonger, but then our politicans dont dare oppose yours.... this is just depressing.
anyone else think we need to get rid of all politicians and start over?
my personal problem with USA is last time i was there with family (florida) we walked down street to wallmart i was inside and my dad (50) was outside lookin at a shop next to it. without warning a cop slams the but of a shotgun into his back and handcufs him because walking in dark is "suspicious behaviour" and drove him what was a 5 min walk back to our house! at least in uk you dont get arrested for walking!
well to draw this rant to a conclusion:
to live in UK>USA
holiday USA>UK (especially at moment £1=$2)
"use the amnesia ray"
"you mean the revolver?"
"yes, be sure to wipe your own memory after"

GoArmy44 wrote on Sun, 18 November 2007 13:52 | We didn't do much? We were your number one supplier of war material(lend lease)...you know...the stuff that allowed you to fight Hitler(this is not even mentioning the First World War) and kept him from squashing you like every other European country (principally naval resources). It was "your" war because you let it brew right in your own back yard....England and France pressed the Versailles Treaty because of hatred and revenge...and then appeased the madmen that resulted from it when they started on their warpath.
|
Uh, no. As soon as the "warpath" started (the invasion of Poland), we declared war pretty much immediately (on the same day, I think?). Sticking up for our friends and allies, see? Whereas the US hung around on the sidelines for a good two years. Even after Pearl Harbour was bombed, you still didn't declare war on Germany. They declared war on you.
America took so god damn long to get into World War 2 for political reasons, end of. Neither of the Presidential candidates dared it. We didn't care about that, our friends and allies were attacked so we jumped into the fray. America can't claim that.
