Works for me.

First off, Jay, stay out of this.

Ok. I didn't want to mention it but I was thinking about turbo charging my Vette. I got to thinking about it and how in efficient even turbos are (compressor efficiencies of about 80% at best).

Since a turbo's function is to pressurize incoming air and force it into the upper motor, and turbos are driven by high pressure exhaust gas created from the combustion process, couldn't I just bypass the turbo altogether and route my headers back into the throttle bodies?

Since I have CFI, I could balance the DEI (direct exhaust injection as I just coined it) by feeding one header into each throttle body. Yes, the charge air wouldn't be that cold, but it would be under a hell of a lot more pressure.

I attached a quick sketch below:
http://www.gmmodernmuscle.com/fileupload/uploads/dei.jpg
There are still a few things I need to work out:
1) How do I get the CFI aircleaner to fit in a way that hides this plumbing?
2) Does anyone make a V-band clamp that will bolt an exhaust header to a CFI throttle body?
3) What pinion angle should I use in my rear-end? I'm sure there will be a noticeable difference in torque output.

What do you guys think?

Basically, the idiot thinks that by forcing the air that was just used for combustion back into the engine it would increase the pressure, thus creating more horsepower. Ignoring the idea of combustion all together, his idea is plausible... if he could cool down the air quick enough. However, that's not how the real world works. Instead, combustion needs oxygen... which would that air would be (ideally) depleted of. In other words, he could be successful in forcing the used air back into the engine to increase pressure, but it's utterly useless because combustion could NOT take place, since there'd be no oxygen.

whoa.

Huh Eventually that would blow up his engine because there is no exhaust and the pressure would just get too great for the block to handle.the best thing to do is to just put a turbo on. I'm not exacddtly sure why you have to have cold air going in, but the heat would also kill the engine. I really hope he does this. Satisfied Dumbass. Sarcasm Sarcasm Sarcasm Sarcasm Sarcasm

Yeah, but that is the turbo. He's trying to improve on the turbocharger.

Doesnt a turbo charger just hook up to fuel and to the engine and force more fuel into the turbo? I forget but I know the way he was talking, he was retarded.

You are not even close. A turbo uses exaust gases to spin which rams compressed clean air (boost) into your intake.

The purpose of a turbo is to compress air and then put it into your engine. The more air they can get in the better. It's not actually air they need, it's oxygen.

I want to hear about the guy on the news.

"On December 24, while showing off to his friends, Dave Jackass was killed. His engine in his gold corvette, one 2,340 ever made (ooh, like anyone cares) exploded. He stupidly rerouted his exhaust back into his intake. A coworker named Jay said that he repeatedly told him not to do that. "I told him that it was a stupid idea, and that he should just forget about it. He wouldn't listen though." A funeral is being held for this idiot on January 1, 2008 where the remains of him and his corvette will be dumped down the sewer."

I would rofl so hard.

This guy sounds pretty legit. A bit of searching shows that this isn't his first moronic idea, and he's certainly regarded as a moron by the rest of the website already.

I guess every forum has a resident dumbass.

Don't think it would blow up, as the engine would quit running once it could no-longer get clean air to ignite the fuel.
