Whenever I ctrl-alt-del I can't close the window and it's always on top. All I can do once it's open is reboot or move it into the corner of the screen.

It also means I can't access the processes tab.

Any ideas?

Hmm...I think a virus, trojan might have disabled your task manager. A lot of them do. Try scanning your PC.

Double click on the edges of the task bar Razz and it will return in its original state (edges surrounding it).

I laughed Laughing when I saw this cause this happened to me once and it took me a while to figure it out, it happens when you double click on the top and it is fixed by double clicking again

No, usually when that happens it will still show the current tab (IE: Processes tab) but you can't switch. But try clicking on the edges anyway.

Double clicking the Task Manager toggles its border style.

When I double click it in XP pro sp2 it looks just like the picture and as he said a double click will put it back.

Ha, same thing happened to me on my brother's computer but with the Performance tab a while back. Annoying, and never could figure it out until I accidentally double clicked it on mine to make it look that way.

Just tried it myself, and confirmed it.

Double click the edge, that'll sort it.
