Whenever I ctrl-alt-del I can't close the window and it's always on top. All I can do once it's open is reboot or move it into the corner of the screen.
It also means I can't access the processes tab.
Any ideas?

Hmm...I think a virus, trojan might have disabled your task manager. A lot of them do. Try scanning your PC.

When I double click it in XP pro sp2 it looks just like the picture and as he said a double click will put it back.

Ha, same thing happened to me on my brother's computer but with the Performance tab a while back. Annoying, and never could figure it out until I accidentally double clicked it on mine to make it look that way.

when I saw this cause this happened to me once and it took me a while to figure it out, it happens when you double click on the top and it is fixed by double clicking again
