Pretty much a pointless topic but the private board has always had an enigma surrounding it. Back in the days of the ra2 board I was asking Chris Ruybor for a private forum in which people could talk about official things.

It took quite a lot of nagging before he finally enabled it. I said the war room would be a good name. So the forum finally got put up, I did the odd report in there using the old HTML. I even did a post about a new forum intergrated into WOL, but got told it would cost $8k from Ted :/

Then came the time when I wanted a few trouble makers banned (naming no names), Chris wanted evidence that they committed the 'crime'. Apparantly quotes didn't hack it. So I started moving topics from the main forum to the war room. This idea stuck ever since. When Yuri's revenge was announced I thought the grinder would be a good name, Chris aggreed and it was changed.

The war room was used on the emperor boards and the renegade boards for a time. Once I was moved to the renegade boards I was a moderator of the private forum for the first time. I changed the name to the silo as I thought it was more c&c related.

Sorry if this is classed as spam but I thought it might interest some people for a little bit. Also strangely enough I still have access to the old silo on the renegade boards Smile.

So flame posts and spam were moved to The Silo, interesting.
This is not spam at all, it's very interesting.

Thanks for revealing its purpose!

Interesting, I thought the silo was where they stored all the extra Tiberium.

Excellent forum btw, I have seen another clone of the official design before. It didn't take off, but I am sure with support this one will reach the 18,000+ members of the official boards

I think having the theme matching the official forums helped this transition a lot. I was also thinking ahead and made sure the DNS hadpropagated to the right spot in time for the move.

Thanks again for all the support! I'm really glad this is starting so positively!

I only added a "Silo" on these forums to keep the same mystery going. phpBB lets me hide it so you can't even see if, but that wouldn't be the same. Smile

Sounds very simular with what we have over at dune2k.com, the only difference is the name, and that members can look up posts in Gobalopper's dungeon (<= lol), if they were given a special title by asking gob.

Well an interesting glimpse into the old board. Yeah alot of people abused HTML back there. I remember when someone tried to post the entire rengade site front page! I never really cared if HTML was on. Something nice to toy with but nothing I would use constantly. I hope you can let us in on a bit more good information.

Oh and nice work crimson!
