ya thats what i thought. i trust gamespot about what they say. Im encouraged to hear it will incorporate both the bf2 and renegade styles, hopefully leaning more towards the renegade style gameplay. also maybe it will get some more people back to renegade before ren2 comes out, whenever the release date is

i really doubt it will be that long, EA tends to be able to churn games out pretty quick, I would say by next christmas is a more reasonable time, who knows, maybe sooner

I think that C&C3 was 2 years and a FPS has to take longer than that. There is just much much more to do.

The article says development is "well under way," not just beginning. If I had to guess I would say that production began sometime around when EA got CryEngine2.

I'm sure it's been in development for a long time. Back in 2006, EALA told Reborn that they'd give it full support if they moved to the CryEngine2.

Yeah well under way can mean over the last week or ten years. Too vague for me right now, i would expect anything until at least early-mid 2009.

I would agree that the next cnc or cnc based fps would come out in 2-3 years, it seems a bit too late to think of continuing the original renegade, it might be based off command and conquer 3 or further into the future, who knows....or maybe the time from tib sun to cnc3 where havoc was alive and somehow died....i'd say he was killed in action or why else would he have a statue. You dont get statues for kicking the bucket naturally.
