So, Apple slashed the price of the iPhone 8GB from $600 to $400. This is normally a celebrated thing, right? Not when it involves Apple snobs!

It seems that some egotistical people who bought the iPhone before waiting for a price cut are up in arms at the $200 discounted price. Only an Apple lover could be this stupid and egotistical to get mad because they HAD TO HAVE the iPhone. People really need to get over themselves.

I understand the frustration of buying something and see the price be cut shortly after. It's completely understandable because you basically wasted your money. However, the anger should be directed at your impatient self, not at the manufacturer. They paid the price for a gadget they wanted that badly. That's the price you pay for being over-eager.

This is just more of this piss poor attitude of not taking the blame for your stupid move. Nope! Let's all blame the "EVIL CORPORATION" on this one. That makes much more sense. Apple OBVIOUSLY forced people to buy their product.

whoa.

Apple did force people to buy thier product. I have no evidence for this claim, but will post it anyway...

That's just stupid, that's why I always wait for new games so the price goes down. An exception will be made for StarCraft II, but that's because I have a lot of faith in Blizzard. (I'm not a WoW player, can't afford the monthly fee, rofl)

Yeah, that's what sparked me to post this. Anybody who purchased an iPhone within 14 days of the price drop gets $100.

Good thing credit card companies are offering 200 dollars back if you explain, a few cases have shown people did get their 200 dollars back so the final cost was 400......

Correct me if I am wrong but I read somewhere that the 100 bucks goes to anything in the apple store...not a direct refund. But if that is true then Jobs just made more money by having the fanboys by more stuff from Apple.

I wonder if PS3 fanboys will try the same thing, because of that recent price drop on that system. I'm actually worried that this will set some sort of precedent.

This is why you never buy something when it first comes out. Buying it later nets you bug fixes and lower prices, not to mention better feedback on its reliability. That's why I haven't bought my 360 yet.

That, plus I am lazy and poor.

I still may be buying one. The price drop makes me even more likely. I'm getting a rather substantial bonus AND a raise this month so an iPhone will be a drop in the bucket.

I'm the bawss.

Heh, the "refund" policy is not a new thing regarding price drops, so don't worry too much about setting a precedent. It may cause more people to complain in order to get stuff, though.

Most large department stores, etc. will offer a refund if you purchase an item within a certain timeframe before it goes on sale.

I personally cautioned people, including Crimson, to wait before getting an iPhone. Not only because of things like this, but I'm sure the second gen version (that maybe has GPS and 3G support), will conveniently come out sometime after Christmas, after they milk all the sales they can from the holiday shoppers.

Heh when that happens, get ready to really see some fur fly, as all the current iPhone owners will be stuck with a now legacy product (it will require hardware changes to support 3G and/or GPS).

Explain this:

Quote:

An alarming white paper concludes that the Apple iPhone contains a backdoor spyware module that allows hackers or the government to conduct secret surveillance of the user, it may be part of an established trend of corporations working hand in hand to eavesdrop on citizens via widely-used software and hardware products.

Earlier this week, a technology group in Russia released the results of their attempts to reverse engineer the iPhone,

http://vsiphone.blogspot.com/2007/07/iphone-has-built-in-spyware-module.html

concluding that the product has "A built-in function which sends all data from an iPhone to a specified web-server. Contacts from a phonebook, SMS, recent calls, history of Safari browser - all your personal information can be stolen."

The module could act as a backdoor for trojan developers or AT & T, said the report, adding that "government structures" and almost anyone that is good with computers would have access to the information.

I wouldn't but it anyway, seeing as it's keyed to one provider and you can't run third party apps (OK, not without custom software or whatever).

I also think they seem to be charging a lot for the Multi-touch, which they don't seem to utilise very much at all. Huh

Edit: I would still buy the MacBooks and the iPod nanos, though. ;D

Apple may launch its iPhone campaign in Europe with a 3G-capable iPhone with enhanced storage...The ad promises a version of the handset with support for 3G-level cellular Internet access using both the US-friendly HSDPA format and typically Europe-only UMTS, with theoretical download speeds reaching the format's full 3.6Mbps. It also suggests that the device will carry 16GB of memory

When that comes out, everyone who already bought a 1st gen iPhone, including the cheaper ones, will shit a brick!

These conspiracy theories are just starting to get annoying now. If it carries on at this rate perhaps I should look into the pitch of my Dog's squeaky toy to see if there is any element of it inducing mind control...

On another note I don't think that many people go the iPhone for it features as most of the consumer reviews pointed out where it was lacking. I don't however think anyone could argue that it is ugly since it is a damn good looking phone.

Does anyone remember that IKEA ad? The Scandinavian bloke, sitting looking all serious, says "I have a message for those of you who bought one of our something-or-others for £400." he's holding a price tag saying £400.

then he throws it away and there's a price tag saying £200 and he starts laughing hysterically and pointing at the camera. Then it pans back a bit and there are loads of women laughing at the camera too.

boooooommmmmmmm That was why I am waiting to buy the ipod touch, because 2-3 months later, a better version will be out, or a version with bugs fixed.
