I just installed Ventrilo because some people told me that it was free. However, I don't know what any free servers are. Could someone please give me some pointers?

Server for what? Renegade? if renegade, then your cant use that, you need the renegade fds, if you dont mean renegade, then I dunno.

Err no one uses Ventrilo for renegade (at least I dunno ppl who do). We use Teamspeak so you should probably download it AND you can get a free server too.

You can get a free server for ventrilo as well, just download it..

Are you saying that someone in our clan is supposed to download the server program? Will that compy be able to handle being a Vent server AND play Renegade?

......I didnt understand that, but yes you can run both at the same time, I guess you join the same vent server as them, and then start up renegade and join the same server and play and chat......

A free server is a server in which you do not need to distribute funds to own/use it.

Correct, it's best to run your own server.

Ventrilo does not use lots of CPU, its biggest cost would be the bandwidth used, and if you can manage that depends on the server you have.

You could piggyback on someone elses ventrilo server, but you lose all control over how it's run + who connects.
