Its possible.... But not easy. Theres 2 ways, both involve heavy javascript.
First way is to use an iframe. On load its tiny and doesn't actually have a page assigned, then onclick you resize it and make it open another page.
The other way is using ajax and a <div> or some other block object. I'm not 100% sure though if its possible to get an image properly loaded through ajax.

Then i seriously doubt if you will manage this, and btw its javascript not java, they aren't really related. Doing something like this will prolly be impossible todo for myspace, unless you want to manually code every entry.

Resize your pictures before you upload them.
Exemple: if you leave your pic's in BMP, they can easely be 3-4 MB per piece. If you save them as jpeg by using a program like irfanview (google it!) and you make their size smaller (800*600), then that same image might only be 200 KB. If your friends have broadband, then u should be able to put around 20 of those on a page without big problems (20 * 200 KB = +/- 4 MB).
You can find me in The KOSs2 (TK2) discord while I'm playing. Feel free to come and say hi! TK2 discord

Also use interlaced GIFs and progressive JPEGs. Low bandwidth users will see a low quality image in the first past, which increases per pass. High bandwidth users probably wont see the passes at all.

You set this in your graphics editor - it is a property of the image and uses no code.
