Crytek has given RenEvo Software & Designs the honor of being selected as the third mod to use the pre-sdk from crytek on the CryEngine 2 development. We hope to get some great work done, and the team is hammering away at learning the new tools, and creating great content. Below is the official press release, as seen on http://www.crymod.com

http://dead6.renevo.com/content/dead6.banner.jpg

Command & Crysis: The Dead 6

The Dead 6 is an interactive extension of the Command & Conquer franchise. From the battlefield perspective you will get to experience, and change the fate of C&C as you know it.

In the single player campaign you will play each member of The Dead 6 on their final "death" missions which take place all over the world in "close to factual" theaters of war. Once completing the 6 members of the team, you will push the team into overdrive and enter into leading the 6 character team from any perspective. The possibilities and choices are almost limitless on how you can approach these campaigns.

Ever wonder what happened between Red Alert and Tiberium Dawn?

Still breaking you head on how the "bad" guys have a mammoth, then later the "good" guys have it?

Left clueless as to what happened with age old technology that just seemed to disappear?

The Dead 6 will answer those questions and more with our episodic campaign missions.

Common Gameplay Features:

  • Customizable Character classes

    • Engineer
    • Grunt
    • Heavy Weapons
    • Explosives Expert
    • Sniper
    • Commando

  • Customizable Weapons and Ammunition load outs
  • Customizable Vehicles and Ammunition load outs
  • Credit and Purchase system from building "Purchase Terminals"

Multiplayer Features:

  • Filtered server browser list so you can choose which side you want to play on.
  • Extended statistical tracking to include accuracy, favorite weapons, favorite ammunition, favorite vehicles, favorite methods of killing, etc...
  • Extended ranking servers. Each server administrator will get the opportunity to report to a centralized ranking service provided by RenEvo Software & Designs, and will provide monthly ladders, ranks, commendations, and awards such as "Vehicular Manslaughter Award" for squishing x amount of players per server cycle.
  • Clan support. Clans can register with The Dead Six clan management system and schedule, track, and challenge other clans in the system. In addition to the player ladders and awards, clans will also contain the same type of achievements.
  • Customized purchasing system. Get back in the action quickly; buy your favorite loadout instanteously with a keybind.

Game Modes:

  • Multiplayer Death match – Drop in, kill everyone in site
  • Multiplayer Team Death Match – For your all out team killing needs
  • Multiplayer Capture The Flag – With the help of your team, strategically return the Opponents flag to your base
  • Multiplayer Command & Conquer – Full out war, use air, ground, and water vehicles and infantry to destroy the opponents' buildings, while still protecting your own
  • Single Player Episodic Content – The base single player campaign
  • Single Player Episodic Co-Op – A series of official and fan-made Co-op missions for The Dead Six team. This will not be unlocked until completing the base single player campaign

But wait, there is more:

  • Modding support and Wiki to create your own mod or total conversion with The Dead Six core.
  • Centralized Server Registration for configuring contained and your entry to the global ranking system.
  • Centralized Player Registration and management to view, share, and configure your earned ranks, commendations, and awards.
  • Update system that will automatically check for updates to The Dead Six, allow you to download additional content, as well as additional maps, all while you play the game.
  • Advanced Server administration, we will put the server admin back in control of the game, and allow for multiple ways to interact with the server administration without taking you away from fragging.

Amazing.

I would call a game "Renegade 2" when it is related to the group of C&C (Command and Conquer) Wink

So it's not on the crysis engine? Then is it going to be an entirely new game or what? I don't get it.

It's a mod for crysis. Ubisoft have given a few select mods the crysis SDK so they can start work... EA could learn alot from them about community support.

Anyway it's a mod based on the renegade dead 6 team, they've had kirby990(or whatever numbers) to write up a story and they've done a lot of concept work in the past when it was going to be for half life 2.

"actually"

Ubisoft has nothing to do with Crytek anymore, or Cryengine.

EA Germany and Crytek gave us the pre-sdk. So yes, EA "is" learning Razz

Yes but there where rumors about a maybe renegade 2 created by EA games on the crysis engine so I guess they scrapped that otherwise they wouldnt give you that support for a crysis mod. O well I still hope its going to be a good succes Very Happy Iam definately going to give it a try (If my computer can run it o.O)

EA is simply throwing scraps of meat at the Renegades. I am pretty sure EA hates the Renegade community which [ probably in their secret opinion] persists like a formidable "cancer."

Anyway, something is better than nothing...this mod will kill if done right.

When I was at EALA, I was told that a C&C FPS was not outside the realm of possibility. Based on my life experience, I will take that to mean that they are talking about it and the success or failure of C&C3 will play a huge role as to whether there's still sufficient profit in the franchise. They can't tell any of us secretly because they are a publicly-traded company and there are rules to prevent stuff like insider trading.

I'm the bawss.

Actually, we have been making a mod for Far Cry. We've been using FarCry as a prototype for The Dead 6 by bringing C&C style gameplay to the engine. We thought it would be worthwhile trying out our ideas whilst waiting for Crysis, and we're aiming to have a release of sorts soon - stay tuned.

C&C FarCry is an active prototype mod developed on CryENGINE1 to test core technology and gameplay features for use in C&C: The Dead 6, which is set to be developed on top of CryENGINE2. This has been the plan for well over a year now. Progress has been slow because, well, there was nothing to develop on yet until just recently.

C&C FarCry is now undergoing final approval. You can see the update tag on it here: http://renevo.com/forums/thread/1219.aspx

I hope and pray that EA is considering developing another C&C FPS title. If they develop it on CryENGINE2 as well, they will have made an excellent choice. But if they do not go through with the plan, then C&C: The Dead 6 will satisfy that promise as has been stated in the past. In fact, I can tell you that the design is moving closer to finalization and development has already started. Just today I have completed the core foundation for our footprint in the CE2 game DLL source, and we're embarking on our base management system based on our feedback and experience of its prototype in C&C: FarCry.

I'll put a personal word out now: modders around, if you are serious about developing your own mod on the CryENGINE2 platform, I suggest that you consider teaming up with us. We're more than happy to assist any other teams who need help in their technology. The Dead6 Core will allow you to develop your own mod with C&C Mode rules on CryENGINE2 and it will be open and available to any teams who require it (once the public SDK is made available). And since I'm the technical lead on the project, I'll personally guarantee you'll have something to work with. Contact information for this will be posted in the near future.

Ahem! It's Kirby098 mister.

And I am still very much around and contributing best I can.

I have finished my piece and our single player plot has a thumbs up from the powers that be.

That alone should tell you somethin'.
I can't talk about the details too much, but Dante may expound a bit.

Dante, what can we reveal?

I really hope that this comes through, I'm building a new computer for Crysis alone and all the mods it will have. But, I have lost a great deal of faith in RenEvo.

Sometimes I wonder why we post here. Anyways: This isn't about switching.

We switched from the HL2 engine due to limitations on vehicles and what we wanted to do with c&c mode. We chose Crysis' next gen platform, but it wasn't ready yet. So rather than sit around and do nothing (thus delaying dev) we used what we had (farcry) to learn thier way and actually create a product and code we could easily port over.

Due to this forward thinking on Tom's part we have a functional product and our processes and code is going to easily migrate.

In laymans terms: We are way ahead of the game campers. One of the reasons we got the Pre SDK.

Write us off if you want, but the next gen Command and Conquer FPS is coming from Renevo.

Not from a mythical EA dev project that may or may not happen depending how many c&c 3 discs we buy.
