Try uninstalling old video card drivers you may have, if not, look for BRAND spankin new ones from years ago when that card was awsome, I'd look for the latest drivers for the card, if not, look for hacked drivers, I'm running modern day software meant only for newer nvidia cards on my 64mb video card in my laptop and i still get high fps, I can actually pick around 15-20 different resolutions to use with hacked software for the video card...only hacks i have seen were for nvidia cards, but there may be some at laptopvideo2go...google that...they mod modern day card drivers to work on new and old cards.

I have just sent my Sons card (same as yours) for repair or replace to the retailer. It was 10 hours out of warranty. He started getting lines down the screen followed by very badly distorted images and graphics.
We tried my card in his PC and had no problems.
The card is fucked for certain.

From what I've heard, the Radeon 9x00 series has these issues alot. They overheat and have a short lifespan.Quackpunk wrote on Mon, 23 July 2007 23:40 | so i was just on the computer, doin wat i always do and my radeon 9600 card just crashed. i know its an old card but itsm good for renegade... anyway, my display settings dont even recognize a video card in the comp. except for the motherboards crappy video card.
| Uninstall the drivers completely. Have the card in your PC and turn it on with your monitor connected to it. Does the video even output anything in the BIOS when connected to the card? If so, the hardware is probably good. If not, it MAY be going bad, unless you're computer's BIOS isn't picking it up.
If it works as above, install the drivers. Try Omega drivers maybe (Google for them). I've heard he tweaks those things for great performance/quality. Too bad he stopped tweaking drivers for nVidia's more recent cards due to a mishap between him and the company.
