SUGGESTION: Auto-download legit files [message #273097]

Hey,

just a suggestion, when RenGuard suggests that x and y is not an unautherised file, it should offer to download a legit copy (always.dat,game2.exe etc) and if its something such as a .w3d, then offer to delete. Big Ups

Not delete, move to a folder within Data called "Disallowed Files" so you still have a copy on your PC, otherwise RG might delete that model you spent five months making.

If you made the model you would still have the .gmax / .max of it anyway, so even if the w3d was deleted you could still re-export it.

I think this is a good idea, since a lot of people seem to be too ignorant to simply READ which file its telling them is faulty and click the filename (which is usually a link IIRC) to download said file.

I agree. It should also automatically delete RG bypasses when it detects them.

Have options to 'Delete' 'Relocate' or 'Ignore' then.
For ignore, this would simply close Renguard. The user can then run through Game2.exe.

Although, Renguard should launch Renegade and disconnect itself, as otherwise a user who doesn't understand/bother to read won't know what's going on, and these forums will get covered in "MY RENGUARD KEEPS CLOSING AND I CANNOT LOAD RENEGADE!!!!!" topics.

Which will get annoying.
