The motherboard I have now, A-BIT KN9-SLI, is a fucking peace of absolute shit. DO NOT BUY ONE! It keep fucking up the internet even!!! "Windows system error there is a IP conflict with another system" and I AM THE ONLY ONE ON THE INTERNET!!! It never says that for my mom or dads computer...

Anyway, I have $130.00 and I really want the ASUS Crosshair, should I try e-bay or just keep saving and suffering with this pile of crap curketry until I have 240-280 and can buy one new? Is it bad to buy a motherboard off e-bay? Anything to look for when buying it there? Do I still get a manufacturers warranty?

You don't need to pay $240-280 for a motherboard. A $130 motherboard on Newegg would suit you perfectly fine. I recommend MSI.

I recently bought this one. Kind of has it all.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131013
The only imaginalbe downside is that, if you have an ubersized 3d card, it slightly gets in the way when you try to hook up 6 harddisks.

---

Correction, I got this one, one step up the evolutionary ladder
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131011
But Im afraid it will exeed your budget.

Ofcourse I can recommend it, but that would look silly, since it's the only mobo i've used of the current generation, without comparing with others. I can just confirm that it gives you everything it promises you.

ok well i can give you some tips on ebay, but im not very knowlegeble when it comes to pc components, like i have put my last 2 pcs together all by myself and bought the parts for them, but i havent looked into the new things out there for a year now. basically when buying from ebay, look at the sellers feedback. how many transactions they have done. i mean you dont want to buy it from someone whe only sold a total of 3 items since they are not very experienced yet. so look for someone who has atleast 200 or more transactions by their name, its the number in brackets beside their name. also look at feedback if its less than 95% i usually dont buy from them. also look if they state shipping price, or if they have shipping insurance. because on a motherboard you should get insurance since you know anything can happen. if they dont state the price message them and ask them. i noticed some people sell items really cheap then make lots of money off shipping. for example they will say a 150$ mobo is for 90$, and they dont state the shipping price. so you buy it thinking its really cheap and a great deal. and then they tell you shipping is 50$ so really you dont end up getting the deal you originally though you were.
also if its a bid and not a direct sale then you should wait till the last minute to bid then your more likely to be the winner and not drive the price up by bidding too many times and giving the other person lots of time to reraise their bid.
yeah i guess you could say im an ebayer lol.

hope this helps. if you got more questions let me know.

oh btw i have never had a product that i bought from ebay that did not do its job. since if it is a scam and in your case the mobo doesnt work you could report them to ebay staff and give them negative feedback for scamming you. you might not be able to get your money back but you could cause that seller alot of problems so most would rather give you your money back instead.
so i would say it is pretty safe to buy stuff from ebay.
i have bought games, clothes, and car parts from ebay and been pretty satisfied with it so far. except one pair of shoes i bought didnt fit me, i guess i should have went a size up lol. but they were 80$ cheaper then then in the stores here so i had no problem selling them to someone else

WTF are you fucking stupid? Just because your onboard network card isnt being assigned with the right or same IP adress, doesn't mean the motherboard is crap, and even still then just buy a network card..

Sounds like a IP conflict to me, turn off DHCP on the router and assign IP's yourself instead of wasting money on a new motherboard

My parents have been ebayers since I was really little... around the time it first came out. I've slowly learned from them throughout the years and have bought a few things on ebay myself. One other important advice is that I generally avoid things that are sold as-is, where the seller doesn't know if the item works or not. If it is a PC component, make sure it has some sort of return policy or guarantee.

I am a long-time eBay buyer and as of recently, also a seller. romaner's advice is good. Buy from someone who has an eBay store and unless you can't avoid it, I recommend ALWAYS paying with Paypal. If you don't get your product, you can almost always get your money back pretty easily since everything with Paypal and eBay is linked (since eBay owns paypal).

I'm the bawss.

It's great that you see it. Too bad this can't be said about a certain individual.

Also, the A8N-Sli is made for an outdated processor model, AMD doesnt make 939s anymore. So i guess it might just work fine, but you will have zero upgrade possibilities.
