I havent played ren for awhile and tried to play today. Everytime i load the game it freezes within a minute of connecting to the server.

Ive had other programs here lately to then on exit my whole pc locks up and i have to hardboot.

Ive run virus and spyware scans on pc everything seems normal. Sucks on ren though was just getting back to where i wanted to play it again.

Wrong forum. Anyway, I'd disable your firewall while playing online, and reenable when you're finished. I'd also try updating your graphics drivers.

Sounds like a phyical problem with your video card.

Has your video card fan seized and stopped working?

Has your CPU fan seized and stopped working?

I would recommend checing that before even turning the PC on.

It believe it is freezing/shutting down to protect itself.

What are your system specs?

both fans are working. replaced them both not to long ago.

seems any game i load it freezes. so im thinking its a video problem as well. i have the radeon 9800 pro. Was thinking of just reinstalling the drivers that came on the disc seeing if that would help

Don't ever install a driver that comes on a disc. They put the oldest garbage version on installer discs.

You are much better off going to their website and finding the latest driver there. A driver re-install would be a good thing.

Also check to see if you heatsinks are chalk full of dust or not. Heat is your enemy.

It could also be a memory problem.

I have a problem at the mo of constant fractional pauses when I run any 3d game, and indeed even on my whole system, unless I run task manager and shut every unnecessary task down..doesn't stop the game pauses though. Plus, the audio cracks up..

I'm gonna take my PC to my nearest shop and have them look at it. I believe they've just sold me crappy memory that has eventually stopped working properly, because i've diagnosed everything else..I fear the solution is to buy new RAM.

Just a possibility in your case

Overheating?

Anywya, about the memory: memory errors cause a blue screen of death most of the time when they're failing.

It's definately an overheating problem. Download a program like speedfan (I think u can find it here http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php ) and check the temperatures.

not sure what you need but... processor speed is low cause mine burned out and i had to get a temp one from a friend, but i have been able to play games just fine with that. Same with ram, i know its only 512 but it hasnt been an issue at all. especially for renegade.

Your +5v rail is showing as 4.2 volts, which is probably outside or right on the borderline of the processors tolerance range...

It could be problems with the sensors, or it could be that your PSU is not supplying enough power.. either because its dying or you have too many devices hooked up to it.

Danpaul's right. The other +5v rail and -5v rail seem not to be 5 volts. -12v rail seems to be insufficient too. I'd suggest getting a new PSU.

Can't be bothered readon up but, have you installed the latest graphic card drivers for you card and/or the latest version of DirectX?
