I have 2 soundblaster cards, ones an audigy 2 and my new Xtremegamer. The Audigy fits into the same slot that I'm trying to insert my Xtremegamer into. Now the thing is, that the Xtremegamer fits into my other computers PCI slot no problem, the same slot that my Audigy 2 has been in for a long time.

What could be causing this? Any help with a way for me to insert the card would be appreciated.

PCI ports can be quite a tight fit sometimes, just keep applying an even pressure on it and it should slot in. Just be careful not to use *too* much force, don't want to damage either the card or the motherboard. If you have more than one PCI slot free on the motherboard perhaps try another one?

Make sure the port is actually PCI, and not PCI-e 1x or 4x or something like that. If it is PCI-e you will need the corrosponding port space to slot it into.

Make sure you place the card in perfectly straight, not at any angle. Make sure the little tab on the backplate isn't stopping the card from being inserted.

You many need to push the card firmly into place, but do not use exessive force.

It's not PCI-E 1x-4x. If it were then the slot would be like one quarter of the size. No offense but lately with people's computer problems I always see other people suggesting things that don't apply or don't make any sense.

Thanks, but I have 3 PCI slots and have tried them all, just checked to be sure and it's not a PCI-e slot, nor is the soundcard a PCI-e. I'm baffled, I guess I'll keep trying. Any further help would be appreciated.

The X-Fi sound cards a PCI. I have the X-Fi Pro Gamers Series. It fits perfectly into any normal PCI slot. If your other sound blaster fits then so should the X-Fi. As mentioned already, make sure the back plating isn't hitting the motherboard which could stop it from fitting in correctly.

Don't forget the backplate. Many people forget about that and the fact it goes past the motherboard into the case under it. Check to see that you have enough space and that little tab actually goes where you want it to.

If all else failes, send it back saying it was defective and get a replacement.

Thanks for the help, I got it in. It was the metal part on the soundcard that was bent a little and that's what was keeping it from going in. Thanks again for the help.

On my old motherboard some twit stuck an electrolytic capacitor right between a PCI slot and the case, so hardly any cards would fit in that slot. Sad
