Microsoft To Unveil Xbox 360 Elite For $479.99 In The U.S.
April 11, 2007 3:01 p.m. EST
Jacob Cherian - All Headline News Staff Writer
Redmond, WA (AHN) - Microsoft is getting ready to launch a new version of its Xbox gaming console. It will be called Xbox Elite.
The newer console will come with a black case; 120 gigabytes of hard drive and an HDMI output port.
The device is expected to go on sale starting April 29th in the U.S.
Jeremy Bartram from Edelman, an agency that handles Xbox enquiries in Seattle, Washington told AHN via email, "The Xbox 360 Elite will retail for $479.99 (U.S.)."
A company spokesman told earthtimes.org that at some point the launch will carry over into Europe as well, though no specific date has been mentioned.
The larger hard drive on the Xbox 360 Elite will enable downloading of movies and act as a digital video recorder.
At any rate, analysts say the Elite console is likely to put some pressure on Sony and give Microsoft an opportunity to patch some holes as far as the technological capacity of Xbox 360 is concerned.
Hard-core gamers wanting to own the highest-end technology will be pleased with the release. HDMI, for example, should allow users to view games and movies at 720p or 1080p resolutions - the way they were meant to be seen.

I'm afraid I will always use my PC because;
1) I can upgrade it at will (funds permitting)
2) I can do a heck of a lot more, a heck of a lot faster on it (Map edit, type... etc)
3) Console games suck (personal opinion, they're all boring FPS games)
4) Consoles like to break, and then you can't fix them yourself, unlike my PC (which broke due to a power surge, I then fixed it, had my (hypothetical) console gone the same way, I'd have had to replace / send it off for repair - which takes longer than ordering parts and fitting them)
5) Did I mention the games sucked?
Renguard is a wonderful initiative

CarrierII said everything that I was going to say. And I will add a little more.
IMO, consoles are way too expensive for the limited functionality they have.
PC's can be upgraded at my will and gaming accessories are inexpensive too. I can use joysticks and game wheels...while this can be done in consoles, they are just too expensive.
Console games have, IMO, no replay value...they get boring after sometime.
