Hey guys. I was wondering if it was possible to put in a screenshot tool into renguard. Maybe something that works like the punkbuster tool in the Battlefield series. If you've never played BF2 before, it will work just take a screenshot from the client's computer and send it to a folder on the dedicated server. Then a mod can go in and look at the screenshot for absolute evidence about a hacker. Granted that the tool may cause a slight bit of lag so it can send the screenshot, but I don't think it would be a problem for very many people.

I like the idea. Would be a bit hard for 56k'ers, possibly.

Would this be automated screenshots without the user knowing (so they cant turn cheats off before taking), or done manually using the screenshot key? Would be a good admin command, !getscreenshot Razz

RG would most likely trigger the screenshot, then grab said screenshot from the data folder and send it. The user would probably know since the game usually pauses for a second when you take a screenshot, but it'd be too late. All they'd be able to do is leave.

They can always just shut their computer/internet off.. But when that happens you can just ban them for test evasion. ^^

I think players might get paranoid if you did that... they might think that Renguard can do many other things to their Renegade clients.

They already think that.

What about the auto map update that was mentioned before (a). With possibility to shut that off ofcourse Wink.

I don't think it's out of the question. As far as I know, the auto map downloading is something we've seriously discussed for quite a while.

I'm the bawss.

If you choose to implement this, be prepared for a bunch of screenies of sakura's 'enhanced' chest from Goztow. Big Grin

Seriously, I wouldn't mind that mods could take screenies of me. A few people might get their feelings hurt that they were falsely accused, but having a screenie taken is MUCH better then getting banned.

What about those dodgy players who have two monitors and have porn up on the other one? The windows "Screenshot Command" gets both monitors... lol

Seriously, this would be helpful.

Most screenshot programs take a screenshot of the primary monitor only, or a specific window, so RG could probably be setup to do that.

Well, if someone took a screenie of me, it would be a compliment. If they think that I am so good that they need a screenshot, then that just proves that I am better than them.

Sorry to burst your bubbles, but I'm just afraid that a "smarter" hack would be made. This new hack would be able to give clean screenshots like the MSX hack pack for various games like CSS, BF2 and BF2142. It's a pain in the neck to admin when these super advanced hacks come into the playing field.

I think I speak for everyone when I say that hackers should just burn and die.

Sadly most cheats/bypasses progs (at least the ones that work on punkbuster and VAC servers) are smart enough to make clean screenshots that do not reveal their use.
