When I am doing something, say playing Renegade. I will be doing everything normal nothing out of the ordinary than all of a sudden it acts like the keys are sticking and keeps repeating what I was typing or doing at that time, like going forward, than after a few seconds the mouse stops working and than the framerate slows down finally the sound stops and I have to hold down the power button for it to restart. Is it just because I am using Windows XP?
Also, whenever I exit renegade it says it generated a error...

Yes, I'd generally say something's wrong with your PC.
Sounds to me like a classic overheating problem of your whole PC.
Steps to combat overheating:
1. Make sure your computer is in a well ventilated area.
2. Check to make sure your fans, cooling units, computer case vents, etc are not covered in dust. If there's dust, GET RID OF IT.
3. Make sure you have a working fan. If it don't work, get a new one, perhaps even a bigger one. See pic.
4. Try putting your computer in a cooler area. do not Try this.

The Renegade quit error thingy just sounds like some random Renegade error because of weird mods or something. I get that occasionally, so no biggy.

I have no dust as I built the computer only a month or so ago. I have 2 120MM fans at full speed, the case has 2 temperature sensors and they never read above 30 in Celsiuses. Also my CPU fan runs fine and the video card has a fan on it that runs good to. The office is a cool place because the heating for out house dos not come to this room. I usually wear a jacket well playing but its not cold as a refrigerator usually 60 in Fahrenheit.

Generally when stuff works fine then starts slowing down as you described in your first post, it's a sign of overheating, but as you describe there, overheating doesn't seem to be the problem.
Does this problem happen just on Renegade, or other games too? Have you tried playing Renegade for 5-10 minutes, quitting, then checking the temperature of both your computer and gfx card temp?
Perhaps it's an incompatibility problem with the parts in your computer.

Well my dad used the GFX card and it worked fine on renegade for him and I don't think a processor is going to be incompatible. Also t will do it every now-and-then when I am just in windows or the internet. It happens most often in Half-Life 2/Garry's mod.
Maybe it is overheating. How can I check the temp maybe the case sensors are not accurate? There a program to do it?

Viking,
It is most likely not overheating. Overheating causes abnormalities and other horrific problems. Usually, a processor will overheat then your computer will be shutdown forcefully due to the built in thermal control in the BIOS.
How much RAM do you have installed?
What is the frequency and FSB of your processor?
What video card do you have installed?

Front Bus Speed is the internal frequency that your CPU runs at. The frequency you commonly see is external frequency. You can download a small program called CPUZ which will tell you detailed information.
Have you scanned your computer for infections lately?

That's a pretty slow processor. I would recommend looking into a better one. A good processor ranges from 800MHz FSB to 1000+MHz FSB. I would also have to say that in this case, its probably your processor slowing you down because it can't process threads fast enough to keep up.

XP has problems reading dual core processors, I read it in a manual (although I have never seen mine read that slow) but it will often show up as faster if you have a lot of programs running.
You are not doing any scripting are you because there are several cases that could cause this (ie a script fires up and says to remove a script, but the script that is suppose to remove doesn't exist, so the game keeps looking for it on the same object until it eventually freezes the game).

I take back what I said about your processor being slow. I didn't see that it was a Dual Core processor. I guess CPUZ just doesn't detect both cores efficiently.
In this case then, I would have to say that maybe some program you are running is hanging your system or you have infections.
