There are plenty of server's for you to have fun on, You can download RenGuard What is a anti-cheat program, http://renguard.com
When you install that it will download a corepatch, So you're up-to-date on everything. 
You can download Fan-maps from loads of places, Try google, I just woke up and I can't be bothered to get a few links, www.renhelp.net has a few awsome maps tho. 
A Bot is a Server regulator, It helps moderators and admins help keep there server in order by kicking nasty folks that don't deserve to be in there server, And cheaters!
A mod is a total conversion mod turning Renegade into another game using the Renegade Engine, Apoc Rising and Reborn and A Path Beyond are a few good mods, Some are still in progress tho.
