Hello!
I've recently upgraded operating systems from Vista RC1 to the newly released version of Home Premium(Note that the operating system is not the issue here.
Since you can't use the "Upgrade" option to upgrade from the RC1 to the RTM version, I had to do a clean install. I backed up everything that I cared to keep onto two DVDs, and installed.
When I was done, I restored my data, and tried to start Renegade. I get this error: "Error creating hash of Renegade serial, Please Re-Install Renegade". So I try the game2.exe: "Game2.exe is not a valid Win32 application".
Well, I knew this would happen, because I didn't actually install Renegade onto the new OS- I just backed up my Westwood folder onto one of those DVDs, and copied it back onto my HDD after the upgrade. Why would I do something so crazy? Well, let's just say that my Renegade Game Disk has entered the void. I wanted to at least keep all my data, in case I could acquire a replacement disk somewhere, or just buy a new copy- eventually.
The problem, though, I think is that when you rip the OS out from under a game like I did, it loses its information in the registry- Is this right?
And, is there any possibility that I can repair this installation without having to buy a new game? Which, by the way, isn't exactly an option, as I don't have what many people would call "Money".
Thank you!

If you have a legit serial, I can help you out.
I can send you a .bin and .cue file, Tho you need a drive emulator compatible with Vista.

Yeah, I've got my original CD-key. And I've found that D-Tools gets along quite well with Vista. But the problem is: I've got a god-awfully slow connection. You'd need to upload it to some place.... Else you'd be transferring it till Renegade 2 was released.
I really appreciate such an offer, though.
