Do you have Renguard installed?
If you do, you should try setting both game.exe and game2.exe to the SP2 compatibility modes. At least, that's what I did with RC1 to get Renegade to work. No idea if that's the case in the final build, because I haven't gotten Renegade installed on it yet!
But it's still something to try.

I don't have renguard downloaded or installed yet. I am having the same problem as the other guy posting about vista, and I'm getting the same error except his appears to be in german

Tbh this doesn't supprise me those Compatibility mode's work part of the time anyways. Nevertheless it stupid that it doesnt work.
When I installed XP sp2 and Ren after my game would always freeze/hang. I found a solution for this back in then I heard of people who didnt have any problems with it. So I guess its about software/hardware configuration aswell.
