To run system restore (if you still want to give it a try) Start > Run > %SystemRoot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

That will loadup system restore.

I would also advice you use DOS to xcopy your Windows disk to your HardDrive for backup purposes. I still have 95/98SE on my C: for backups.
