Well, First i'd like to say that it's major because of the problem, but not major since i can access everything i usually can.
At 14:57 GMT today explorer.exe encountered an error and simply froze. This failed me accessing anything using explorer so i thought it was just a basic crash and went into the task manager to end the process and restart it. Upon restarting explorer.exe it will run it and then something will close it and the taskbar flickers during its few miliseconds of runtime.
After looking in the system logs there was a module error with user32.dll that caused it to crash.
I cannot start windows in safe mode since it will just not allow me (damn multiboot). System restore is not an option since i don't have a restore point set (i think) and i don't know/can't find the exe to run it. I've tried replacing user32.dll with a friends and that didn't work. I'm out of ideas.

Sounds like your Win32 subsystem is pretty badly mangled. You may have to restore user32.dll from your Windows CD.

I'd explore the WinCD if it would work. I found a vista based explorer.exe file which acts as windows explorer (the file/folder viewer) but it's not allowing me to explore the files on the disk.
I would have run a system re-installation (keeping the files and settings) if it would let me.

why wouldnt it let you?
just boot from your windows cd and reinstall.
i think its called "repairing" a available windows installation. setup should search your disk and tell you that there is an existing windows installation. there should be an option to "repair" (re-install with keeping the files and stuff) it.
never did it so i cant tell exactly but it should only overwrite the (important) system files.
and you cant repair your current windows at all? (without re-installing i mean)

I have noticed that media cards (such as memoryStick Pro etc) tend to crash explorer if you leave them in for a long time, or try to transfer from one to another, but that could just be my windows xp being a moron 
Usually when I unplug the memory card explorer starts responding again, but until I do My Computer shows that I have no cd drives, hard drives or anything, and explorer grinds to a halt...

There is no system to run a system restore, formatted it yesterday.
I tried it but it wouldn't let me go back in the months :S
Oh well, the disk's fine since it's what i used to install windows with, just don't know what was wrong with that file :S
