I posted something similar to this reply in another thread but it fits so well here. The comment that renegade is dying. I used to think the same thing. When BF2 came out I thought ren is gone. How could ren compete with those stunning graphics?

Quote:

I started to play the game and at first glance the game is awesome. Getting into a helicopter and manning the gun or parachuting out of one, flying. I mean just the whole game just kind of draws you in and you play the game for a while.

Level up through the ranks while you learn the game then after awhile you come to realize its just a glorified capture the flag game with really kewl graphics.

BF2 was a real disappointment. It got boring fast and became just another boring capture the flag game. Yawnnn!!!

Renegade I can still play for hours and never get bored of it. I doubt there will be another game like it unless they come out with Renegade 2. Enemy Territory looks interesting and I hope it’s more like Ren then it is like BF2.

That’s what I wrote and it’s so true. There hasn’t been another game like Renegade yet. Sure its FPS and sure it has tanks but so what. If the game play sucks the game sucks doesn’t matter how pretty they package it. That’s why renegade will never die. Hopefully though someone will come out with a new version or a revamped one. If renegade dies then I’ll probably not play any online games until something comparable takes its place.

Renegade has excellent support from the fans, too bad that EA doesn't have the same love at the moment. I play Guild Wars most of the time I'm playing Computer games and it has updates and fixes every week, and no monthly subscription. I takes a deceptive amount of skill to compete on a player vs. player level too. It's all strategy and timing, and since everyone is level 20(attainable by like 9 hours of play.) there isn't endless hours wasted just trying to level your way to being good.

Anyways, people bitch all the time on here thinking that their opinions matter(ironically like I just did Razz), just type as properly as possible and don't let the opinions of others get you down. If you chose to leave it would be no skin off my back, but i'd rather this community have several stupid members(not that you are, I have no idea) than none at all.

So you just recently discovered that gameplay overwhelms pretty flowery graphics...

A few bad apples isn't worth leaving something that you have dedication for. The ignore button is your friend. There's nothing pathetic about shutting up a few mouthy assholes. Granted, I'm not exactly exempt from that title, but I'm not pure annoying.

whoa.

I'm warning you: there you go again! Talking about things that'll change Renegade forever. First do it, then talk about it, it's a good advice! Otherwise it might end up like seye up to now: a lot of good will, a lot of talking but nothing really comes out of it.

Best way to approach this community is to make something, then talk about it/show it off. If not, you'll make the same mistake as BHS with renguard 1.04 and as a lot of others.

Do like Silent Kane: from time to time he comes with a Renegade "bomb", then dissapears again. And noone really blames him for being "just a big jackass"!

I briefly know what's going on between those two and all i can say is that it will be great for server hosters and something that's unique to Night Regulator.

As we all may know, people have their own opinions, it's up to us to bother about those opinions and take them in or throw them out and disregard the user. We mustn't take opinions seriously otherwise they would not be opinions anymore. I think it's good that he's back, no-matter what anyone thinks about him. Thumbs Up

Unique to NR. That doesn't sound like a good thing to me...

It will be available to other regulators but it is in the process of being coded at the minute. I'm not saying any more otherwise they'll start to hate me ;P

it will be tested on NR + Sbot to make sure it works correctly - once its working 100%, it will be available to other bots

thanks for the advice Goztow, this is a fairly small project. and when its finished i should be able to start coding the Seye alot faster and easier. i want the Seye to work as a "client" to the Sbot. so:

1) you set up a server with the sbot and mine+Nightma12's mod.
2) you tell a load of people your ipaddress
3) those people who have the Seye, just type in that ipaddress and the Seye with talk to the Sbot which will send all the player info to it.

You should make it 'cross regulator' when you've got it working with Sbot, then it'll be the greatest in mod and cheat detection since 'out-of-game' mods have a visual into the server, not just IRC text. Thumbs Up

I thik it might help a little in chet detection, but not all that much I did say. You cant spot aimbots, nor damage hacks, and even wall hacks would be difficult, as that could also be a timed.

True, but if it's anything like RenHawk then you can see the explosion of remote C4 and damage hacks can be seen also (one min full HP, next millisecond dead). It'll contribute alot towards the moderators out there.

A product like RenGuard needs a lot of hype behind it because it needs participation to be successful, so the word has to be out before it's done.

For RenGuard 1.04, I do not accept failure. Period. It will be out.

I'm the bawss.
