i havnt been on the forums for awhile, as, i have realised more and more at the amount of trolls on these forums; i posted regularly on imdb before this, and though that was bad.


needless to say, dan, and even i, have moved on to bigger and better things. but thats just it, moving on. you could spend most of your time trying to improve thi dying game, or you could search for a better, more modern one.

im not here to tell you what to do, cos if you like this game, then good for you.


i have moved to a more enjoyable game, and post on its forum.


also, you may have noticed (wel, if you didnt...) that about 99% of threads on these forums have a flamefest in them, and you have to ask yourselves: why?


at first, when i left renegade, i thought i'll stick aroujnd for some mods i was waiting for, but started questioning myself; what's the point?


compared to hard-core players, my life in renegade has been short, and i congradulate those who still think it is fun, even though they have played since beta.


p.s. the game i go on about is WoW: it is modern, it is updated regularly, and it has an update around the corner but most of all, its the changing environment on WoW that makes it so addictive; even if you do the same things all the time. the people you meet can change it drastically.

Oh, Christ, both of you are whiners.

It's sad that people can't handle it. I mean, it's not even that much to handle. If you're constantly badgered by people, put them on your ignore list. It's that simple. Granted, most of it shouldn't occur, but it's not a perfect world. If people were truly dedicated, they wouldn't let a bunch of idiots run them off.

Also, if you are leaving the community, and you're not adored by many, don't leave a goodbye thread. It's a tacky way of exiting. Just leave and let it be. Obviously, you're leaving because you hate the community, so why try to get sympathy from a community that you dislike and probably reciprocates those feelings?

You guys (people who post dramatic "I'm leaving" threads) are funny. You all say the same things, using words like "dying game", and "I'm now playing <new game here> because it's newer".

Sure they are newer, and they can even be fun for awhile. I myself play BF2142, Call of Duty2, CS:S, BF2, and POE (a BF2 mod). They are all "newer", "updated", and have graphics that kick the shit out of Renegade. But I still play Renegade - because even with other games VOIP, squads, dozens of radio commands, etc, they don't come close to the hectic teamwork that you get in Renegade.

Most people who post these "I'm leaving" threads to play some new game, are back within a few months.

As for this being a "dying game", I always laugh at that, because people have been saying that for literally years. Sure this game isn't as big as most of the others, but its definitely not dying. In fact with the release of the Next Decade, we have had an influx of new players. If you check online you can see that there are still many servers and players for Quake1, which is old as dust, and people are still having a great time playing it...I wonder if they still have folks who even bother saying "this game is dying".

Anyhow, do what you will. If you are the type of person who must play every new game out there, then go ahead, Renegade will be here waiting for you when you get bored.

I have to agree on the flaming in this forums, which is indeed pretty bad, and something I dont like either. So many mods, and noone does smething about it. A couple of days / weeks back there was a usefull topic here, but then gets killed by the thread crappers, and noone seems to care. Sad

I thought the whole purpose of this forum is that it is open to the public and unrestricted as much as possible. I think the key is just to present yourself as you wish to be seen and not get all upset over someone typing a few words.

At the same time if you post all your emotions and feelings on such a forum you have to expect the trolls to pounce tbh.

blaser, if you read my post you will see that i dont say it is dieing. infact i think renegade is starting to get good now.

it wasn't just people who flamed me that made me leave. it is just general atmosphere of this site. if i ignored everyone that was a jerk then there would only be a 10 people NOT on my ignore list. then, there is no community. i posted this so there could of been a small chance that, instead of posing a flaming post. don't post at all. but that won't happen, poeople have there reputations to keep up and flaming someone smaller than them make them think they have a better rep.

Grow some skin and don't get upset because some people on the internet don't like you. Neither I nor anyone else can control how this community behaves. If we went all controlling and restrictive on everyone, no one would have a good time, least of all the moderators, and the forums would swiftly die.

As it stands, we have about 1334 sessions per day and it's still trending upward. You have a choice whether to visit these forums to keep up on the happenings in the Renegade community, you can stop reading a thread when it hits about 3 pages which is the average degradation point, you can avoid the Hot Topics forum... there are so many conversations going on at once, there's no need to post in or read them all.

Blazer is right, that people have been saying that Renegade is dying/dead for years. I think about that every once and a while and just laugh to myself about it. It's ridiculous, because people have been saying it for almost three years and it still hasn't died nor shown any signs of dying. In fact, I think it's going the opposite direction as of now. There were some points in time where things seemed to be going downward for the community, but it has never stayed like that long enough.

What really sucks about the servers, is that I like competitive ranked servers, but if there are servers like that, they either lag like a bitch, or stupid admins run it.

ok, after what crimson said and alot more people. im turning to the idea of staying, but i don't like it when i see poeple do this (refering to me). il leave it at that. mabe i should stay out of the hot topic forum, but curiosity kills Wink
