Hey guys,
I recently got intrested in making some of my own renegade video's after watching quiet a few on youtube, so I got the full version of fraps (warez In Love ).

Anyway, i set my video settings so it would be full view, at 25 fps, and sound record. Well, loaded up a game, started recording a 30sec clip, i try to watch it when it says 200mb file Huh

I next i tryed half size with 15 fps, quality ain't too good, although not bad either Dont Get It

Suggestions?

Use a compression program.

Fraps records uncompressed frames. You have to compress the video files afterwards with a video editing program. So, go back to 25-30 FPS recording and then compress your videos.

So even if I just import the video to windows movie maker, and export it as lets say a .wmv (recorded at 30fps, and full view), will make a big difference? How much smaller do you think will it become?

a LOT smaller ...

A 10 second uncompressed video can turn up a few hundred MB. With a quality compression utility you can keep similar quality (slightly less) but about 10% or less of the file size.

e
It depends on what bitrate you compress the video at. But yes, of course it will be insanely smaller, but it will also look worse.

You shouldn't steal programs, especially not programs as useful as Fraps. Buy it, it's not that expensive, or use the free trial version which allows you to do 30 secs recordings.

You should support smaller companies like the one that created Fraps, it's already hard enough for theml to stand up against M$.

i can't afford to buy them...i would if it were cheaper. but 40 bucks is just too much for a program that is so small.

Troop

If you use warez good enough, download Vegas Video, Import your video into it (edit it ofcourse) and highlight all your movie in the Time stamp then go to

File> Render as> .wmv with the setting 3MBPS ( I think Laughing )

Basicly so the quality is good. Smile

Need a preview?

http://www.distortiagaming.com/files/CSS.wmv

Very Happy I'm still learning how to use it, but a pretty good program for makeing movies.

$37 at the current exhcange rate would be about 30 €. Yup, it's a lot of money.

But you don't even need to buy it: you could use the trial version and limit your use of it.

If you can't buy a fancy new car, you buy a 2nd hand one with less options, no? You don't go and steal a new one, do you?

Fraps is a program for Windows right? So without that god damn evil MDOLLARSIGN... There'd... be no fraps... uh... Nonsensical. Wholeheartedly. Thanks for trying.

I'm not someone who's against Microsoft. It's just an often used abreviation that all understand.

U gotta admit that it's not all that easy to be a small player in the current software - landscape.

If you don't want to pay for FRAPS, then don't, just use it with the restriction.

If you know any place to get a registered version (by any means), then keep it to yourself, it'll stop others from whining.

Update:
I used WinAVI to convert the uncompressed .avi file (47sec=160mb, 30fps, half view), to a 3mb .wmv (encoded ate 15 fps, and 50% quality).

This is wierd to me because I downloaded a 20min clip of a guy playing ren off google video's (.mp4, decent quality) and it was only 50mb Huh

I haven't even heard of WinAVI, and by the look of the results you got, it really sucks. You want to use a program that can compress the uncompressed AVI file with a codec like DivX or XviD. I might post a whole tutorial for you on how to do it in VirtualDub or something.

I could do that if you wish. (The tut with Virtual Dub as I use this myself and found it very useful)

I completely agree with Gozzy.

But, yeah, they raised their prices a lot recently. I think when I purchased it a couple years ago it was like $10 usd. Then again, I also have GameSpy Arcade for life for $20, too ...... lol.

Sure if you want it to be very pixelated. A 50min video at decent quality would most probably be in the regeion of 200-400mb.
