I just got kicked for not using renguard and the reason I don't use it is that it loads the trojan: NMC.BACKDOOR.NEMOG.C I want to know why it does this?

There is no trojan, your AV reports a false positive. SVKP, an executable packer, is used by some trojans to conceal their inner workings, and as such it is flagged by some anti-virus products. Ignore the warning, RenGuard will not cause harm to your machine.

It is listing a specific trojan, and my AV is not finding it. It is Malware that is finding it. Nortons has no problem with it. I read the posts about the svkp but like I said, Nortons is happy with it. If it had been what is posted then I would not have questions.

RenGuard doesn't load ANY trojan. Norton is reporting a false positive, or is there another trojan/viral infection on your computer?

Nortons is ok with it. Malware is finding it, and it can quarantine it but each time I start renegade with rengaurd installed the same trojan NMC.BACKDOOR.NEMOG.C is found and it is always in the renguard file. SVKP is not giving me a problem.

The RenGuard executable Game.exe is packed with SVKP. Norton detects the SVKP signature in Game.exe and reports it as a trojan. The warning can be safely ignored.

The only thing I can think of is because something else infected the computer, and it spread to the Renguard program.

No one else who uses the program has received a trogan, and I highly doubt you're special in some way.

Which Malware program is finding it?

EMCO malware destroyer. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times. Only shows the trojan after renguard is installed and run.

I have just downloaded the renguard program and will try installing it. And no, do not think I am special, just want help and answers. And no one is listening, NORTONS DOES NOT HAVE PROBLEM WITH RENGUARD.

I will try the new download and see how it goes.

It seems as though you have ignored this post. It gives you the most possible answer.

Nortons is NOT the one finding it, and yes I read the post about Nortons, both here and at the website. NORTONS is NOT the issue.

And I am not the one ignoring what is written, SVKP is NOT the issue. A SPECIFIC named trojan is the issue.

However this horse is dead, and will be beaten no longer. Until there is something on the website adressing this issue I am done.

BTW the trojan is a data mining one, no it won't harm the pc but your information is up for grabs.

Have a good week.

I don't think you're understanding what he is saying. Norton or not, this applies to the anti-virus software that is detecting it. Of course it's detecting a name, what else is it going to say? It's not going to just say "trojan" and isolate the file. They are not perfect software. Don't rely so heavily on them. If you don't come back and realize this, then I guess it's your loss and not ours.

Norton doesn't say SVKP detected...? Norton detects a "virus" or "trojan" which is typically packed with SVKP. If this wonderful trojan is causing so much grief, re-install RenGuard? RenGuard is OK.

Have you missed my post? It is pointless to point out something that happened before it had been understood.

Your malware program is designed to find specific malware. Each malware has some characteristics. It's highly probable that if you have svkp.sys running, that's the characteristic for that specific malware. So it's a false positive.

EMCO malware destroyer.

Interesting things pop up when you research it.

http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm

Emco Malware Bouncer emco.is prone to false positives; poor scan reporting; no longer available [A: 12-23-04 / U: 8-1-05]

I know it says "Malware Bouncer", however that seems to be the other name it goes by (the freeware version is called this, the purchasable one is Maleware Bouncer0

EMCO Malware Destroyer performs a quick scan for more than 7600 malware, adware, Trojans etc. The program lacks the advanced features of other anti-spyware solutions, as well as detailed descriptions or reasons for most of the detected items. It also produced several false positive results during our review. Unreliable as primary choice of protection, but may be useful as a second or third opinion.

To those that actually read what I wrote and offered help or suggestions thanks. Waranto, went to the site you listed and "Malware Bouncer" is a product no longer produced, around 04 or 05. It does not list "Destroyer" (at least could not find it), it is a good site though so have bookmarked it.

I am going to contact EMCO though to see what they say about it, should have done that in the first place.

To those that were only sarcastic, get a life, just because the makers of Renguard say it is safe does not make it so. Of course they would say that, you don't think companies have your best interests at heart do you?

Until I find a solution/answer I choose not use renguard, can't afford to have a miner in my system. If EMCO says to ignore it I will, but just the same I would rather be safe than have my finacial info open to whomever.

Everyone have a good week.

err.. just noticed the mistake in my post.

The freeware version of "Malware Bouncer" seems to be "Malware Destroyer". That was was the last line in my post was intended to say.

However, I double checked that and found this:

http://www.emco.is/malwarebouncer/features.html

I guess Destroyer is the updated name they are calling it, and was distributed as freeware.

Unfortunately, with both being from the same people, it is probable that the false positives do exist. This is not to say false positives are bad, as they will catch more things than something that doesn't, but you still have to be careful that what is shown is, in fact, the real thing.

In the case of Renguard, it's a false positive. No one else has has this occur, and many people here are quite proficient when it comes to computer maintenance.

RenGuard is a software product that has been installed tens of thousands of times. You are the first and only one to see this alleged back door. You are also using a software that is prone to false positives due to having poor detection algorhythms.

Considering that RenGuard is an anti-cheat software, we at BHS know for a fact that it will be disassembled and scruntinized. Putting any sort of virus in this software would have been a really stupid idea, and I am sure we're NOT, in fact, stupid. RenGuard does just what we say it does.

full ack!

there could only be a trojan horse included in renguard if you didnt get it from the renguard.com source.
and if your renguard has been modified it should be recognized by the renguard server (since the game.exe hash gets submitted) and an autoupdate should occur!

Dammit, what a headache. If there's an evil evil trojan, re-install plz? Oh yeah, did you notice the uber-large community surrounding this supposedly evil RenGuard product? Perhaps there should be a mandatory computer license. THERE IS NO VIRUS/TROJAN! NONE!

Warranto, like I said the site is a good one and have bookmarked it for future use, thanks for the info.

I Was not calling anyone stupid, others were doing that. I have found that when people do not know an answer, or dislike the question they become belligerant and insulting. Others offered good advice and I took it by using their suggestions.

I however do not trust anyone on their say so, people lie and companies are built on lies. Someone telling me to believe because they do never make any sense, blind faith is just that blind.

I Will make an inquiry with EMCO to see what they say. As stated earlier this is what I should have done in the first place.

And yet again. HAVE A GREAT WEEK EVERYONE
