Since a few days I've got renegade. (If of any use, it was one of the games in the first decade pack) However, everytime I tried to play an online game I had problems.
Sometimes there's a long blue screen that says 'gameplay pending'(don't remember excactly).
But everytime and on every server the game 'stops'after a few minutes or less. Everyone is shooting or standing still. After that I get disconnected.
Does anyone know what is wrong? And of course what can I do about it?

What i'net connection do u have?

In-game, can u do "F8" and then type "FPS", then "enter". Tell us what your fps, sfps, ping and kbps is when you join the game and when it disconnects you.

It seems you don't connect with the server at all. If your kbps, ping and sfps is 0, this means you get no data at all from the server.

Do you have a firewall / I'net security package? Did you try putting it off?

I tried putting windows firewall off, however it still doesn't work.
I allowed renegade to make internet connection.
One thing is that sometimes i can start playing, however, after a few seconds it stops.

If you can start playing, it might be that it just allows you to run around a bit but as you don't get data, you will never see other players move.

I've only had this when I was on gamespy and it didn't like my serial but then it gave me an error message "cd authentification failed".

If so, what can I do about it? I would really like to play online with c&c renegade.
Thanks in advance.

Did you try using westwood online in stead of gamespy?

This is obviously client-side. Unless the server your on, has problems, IE: Set NetUpdateRate to like 1, lol.. And has "Indexing Service" turned on. Try joining other servers? Or does that apply to all of them?

It does apply to all servers.
I tried playing now, it says 'negotiating port with server'.

We do have a router btw could that be the problem, and what could I do about it?

Viva la Resistance!
Does Renegade use a specific port for server connections? If it does, then I'm guessing the MOTD and Listings etc. go over port 80 or whatever, but the main port isn't being forwarded by the router.
Try reading your router's manual or searching Google for a way of using Port Forwarding, I set mine up so it routes everything through to my Smoothwall PC. Tell Me

Try finding out which model your router is first.
Then ask the password from whoever manages it... then visit this website. Lookup your model number and follow the instructions.

For example:
http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/S MC/2804WBRV2/Command_and_Conquer_Renegade.htm

SMC router
