on some maps that i have downloaded or made i start falling from nowhere in the middle of loading, and then the game refreshes and does it again. i have to use taskmanager to exit it as the pause menu dissapears as soon as the game refreshes. occasionally i am fast enough but otherwise its stopping me from getting to play certain maps

that's not blue hell.
that is when a map's terrain fucks up and it doesn't actually show, so you are left falling and dying.

When you download maps you MUST close renegade and re-launch it before playing on them, you can't drop them in the data folder while you still have renegade running as it will not load them properly.

nah, it just keeps repeating and i dont die, either team, renguard on or off.

press tab twice when you start the game; you'll get stats out people ingame.
the stats ypu'll get are:
kills
deaths
K/D ratio
credits
rank
everytime it 'refreshed' your death counter will increment.
