I was just wondering how people on these forums would direct the course America took over the next ten years. No, I don't want this to backslide into a sniping match, I'm just curious as to how you would run America. As crazy as this may sound, lets try and all keep a civil tongue in this thread.
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- Theodore Roosevelt (1918)
"The danger to political dissent is acute where the Government attempts to act under so vague a concept as the power to protect "domestic security." Given the difficulty of defining the domestic security interest, the danger of abuse in acting to protect that interest becomes apparent. --U.S. Supreme Court decision (407 U.S. 297 (1972)

Alternative Fuel economic plan with greater cash and tax incentive plans for the use of solar, hydrogen, nuclear or ethanol power. Target - 75% of most major metropolitan areas on alternative energy.
Re-working of the No Child Left Behind Act. Less focus on perpetual testing, and more on a national standardized teacher certification method. Base results on College acceptance rates and dropout rates.
Progressive tax cuts end. Instill instead a flat tax cut, if necessary, on fossil fuels.
Welfare reworking - now on a time-based scale. Three-to-five year welfare plan, after which welfare is ceased for that particular individual or familiy.
Social Security reworking - what you put in is what you get out of it. Independent alternatives to Social Security - government redirecting of funds to a savings account, IRA, or stock fund of your choice - but the funds will still be treated exactly like social security - take any out, and you better be retired or on disability.
The Internet remains deregulated. Period. Any attempts at regulation are instantly vetoed.
Iran is ignored. Venezuela is ignored. North Korea is ignored. They know the rules. If they cross the line, they will be no more.
The Iraq restructuring gets its timetable ramped up. Military autonomy is priority #1. Followed by infrastructure and economy.

The beauty of being a right-centrist is that you can make social decisions without the knee-jerk "LIBERALS!!1!!1!!" reaction.
As stereotypical as it may sound, I find right-centrism to be the most comforting of the political spectrum. It runs the government as a business, and rears back on the "Mommy & Daddy Gov't"-isms.

That's right about where I sit, which is probably why we agree so much. The only thing that concerns me is the "government" getting too much power over the people. Next thing you know we're a 'Roman-Empire-In-The-Making' (or in the process of collapsing, which is more appropriate). It's already getting a bit obnoxious. I love my country and would die for it (I'm a military veteren) but I don't care for my government. One could argue that we elect our officials as this is a democracy, but anything has the potential to corrupt -- and I've seen more corruption than I'm comfortable with recently...
BTW> One of the rules for this thread should have been: "You must be an American citizen to post what you'd do" otherwise all kinds of foreign sentiment will work its way into here.

General Wesley Clark
Former commander of NATO forces in Bosnia Herzegovina, and former Democratic presidential candidate. Curerently a consultant for the left leaning CNN on all matters military and of late, a political consultant.
I like him, yet I lean Republican.
Put John McCain in there and standby for some well thought out military strikes used as diplomacy.
