when i used to play renegade, this never happened...

ever since i bought my new mouse (a logitec Laser G5), when ever my renegade fps goes down, my mouse speed would also go down, and it's not like it's lagging where it jumps once in a while, it just slows down...

dono if anyone has also having this problem, but it's made renegade unplayable for me once theres about 30 people ingame...

the rate of my mouse is 500 updates/sec. i'm using the normal 800dpi setting, but when it slows down, i have to use 2000dpi, then switch back once fps goes up again.

My fps hovers around 30 and drops to arond 20ish once theres about 5 tanks shooting and people repairing

this dosn't happen with CSS or any other source game. this also dosn't happen with any other game i know of... (maybe it's cos of DX7...)

Have you installed the software that came with it?
And to verify your DX7 (even though it has nothing to do with it), get Scorpio's Directx 9 'mod'.

I thought renegade was DX8? (unless you have the DX9 patch obviously)

You don't want to install the software. Just take the drivers from the disk and make sure there in the system folder. Hence, put the disk in and kill the auto start. Open control panel -> System Properties -> the Hardware Tab -> Device Manager -> scroll down to mouse properties and open it up to the drivers tab. Select update driver -> HELL NO windows cannot connect to the intranet -> install from specified location (advanced lol) and point it to the disk and let it search for the correct dll.
All this is a moot point if you are running XP, as it should already have the drivers installed. However, you can unplug and uninstall the mouse and pointing devices completely. Shut down -> plug it back in and Reboot. Windows should automatically start the device manager and configure the shit accordingly.
