If you want to host a Rengade game with a bot, do you have to have Windows 32 or 2003? I have a Windows XP and I want to host my own botted game.

edit config.cfgand make sure it had the following...
[Bot]
fds_path = C:\Westwood\RenegadeFDS\Server
auto_secs = 30
fds_path = your server path the one above is the default
auto_secs = seconds between the each autoannounc
all you should need to do is run the program!
make sure untill the next release to run the bot just after FDS has started and loaded a level otherwise it will not properly if the FDS restarts you will have to restart the bot as well

You can host on any Windows version. However, considering your limited knowledge of the renegade FDS, I strongly advice you to get help from someone that knows more about it.

o ok sorry,
1) download and install this: ftp://ftp.westwood.com/pub/renegade/dedicatedserver/Renegade FDS_1037.exe
2) then download and install this: http://download.renguard.com/cp2/sscp2allw.exe (this is optional but recomended, also you will see 3 checkboxes i recomend checking the 2 one (the first is greyed out anyway)
3) for a bot, brenbot is good but it is hard and take time to setup, i would suggest nightregulater(or mine but nightregulator is much better than mine at the moment), download here: www.NightRegulator.co.uk/NightRegulator-v0.3.4.zip
4) go to your server directory (C:\westwood\renedadeFDS\Server) open server.ini and edit. it is documented well so it should be easy. you need a username and password for this step so use a old renegade nickname or something.
5) from your server directory do to data and edit svrcfg_cnc.ini to suit your needs again it is well documented.
6) run NR, i don't know how to configure, never used it.
7) run renegade, press the windows button then run the renegade server (start -> all programs -> westwood -> renegade server)
then run NR.
login as a username that you didn't specify as the servers, and chech to see if your server is in the WOL list. if it is, it has worked and you should be able to play on it, as long as there is more than you playing on it(although you can set the player limit to 1 and you should be able to play on it).

It will not work if you want to play renegade on the same computer you host on though. Easiest way to achieve that is to click the "host game" button in advanced game listings.
