These are the stupidest discussions. We've had them several times over. A server owner is free to do what they want. If they want to kick you for saying "lol", then they have every right to do so... as ridiculous as it may seem to you or others. They pay for the bandwidth, they can do with it as they please. You have no right to claim otherwise. Also, the ESRB rating isn't a requirement. It's simply a suggestion as to who should be allowed to play with respects to their ages. Ultimately, the parents are the ones who decide if their kids get to play.
If you host a server. You can do as you want with it. You create the rules. You enforce the rules. If someone asks you not to swear, respect their wishes or leave. It's that simple. You have no right to say that they're wrong. Agree with it or not, it's their decision.
whoa.

That sounds like naziism.. do what we say or die... good thing our countrys aint like that. ![Smile](images/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif)
|
How is that naziism? Are you going to call your parents nazis when they ask you not to swear in front of them or guests? If so, then you can twist just about everything into being a form of naziism.
The idea is simple: you control what you own. You're not forcing people to obey by your rules and stay in your server. They're free to leave if they don't like it. It's far from being fascist.

The Filter could work. IF they could take RG and have hte next CP update the filter for word bypasses that would pretty much fix the language issues.
Hell! I would give him a server if ALL the cheaters just stayed there together, well the cheaters and 56ker's. -REBORN

I might have used a too strong word for this, but what you trying to say, cause this is my server, you do as I say or elas.
I hate server owners who go by that, it shouldnt be like that, yes they have that right to say that as they own it and maybe put money towards it, but that doesnt mean they are right or just to say that.

Who are you to say what's right or wrong for a server owner? It's soley your opinion. You do what you think is right, and others will do what they think is right. Just because the ideas may clash doesn't mean that one opinion is the absolute.
I'm not saying server owners SHOULD do whatever they want no matter how ridiculous, but what makes them wrong in doing so? Nothing.
If you don't like certain rules, then don't play on the servers with said rules. If you want to play on those servers, swallow your pride, join, and respect the wishes of the server owners.
The rule for no swearing is not an outrageous one. It's a fairly simple and common rule. I wouldn't run a server with that rule, but it's nothing that changes the game. You're still playing Renegade whether or not you're allowed to swear. Swearing is not an essential part of the game, therefore, disallowing it doesn't harm the game. Plus, we could all use a little restraint in our vulgar vocabulary.
whoa.

Sniper_De7 wrote on Sat, 05 August 2006 13:04 | I thought up the idea of a mod for people who are religo-nutsoid some days ago. It goes where Nod and GDI don't actually shoot eachother. They can go and sit down in like the GDI barracks and just type to eachother. No punching, no shooting, least of all NO SWEARING. They can go on tour rides in APCs and perhaps even share humvees and buggies together. They could maybe walk down the beach on islands and get a cool tan. I mean seriously WOULDN'T IT BE SO MUCH FUN?! Who needs violence in video games? (physical/verbal) WE CAN ALL JUST MOSEY ALONG AND HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME HOLDING HANDS. Because VIOLENCE people is BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD. I think every no-swearing server should put this mod in and it will bring peace.

lol.
No swearing in a violent game.
It's like saying, here have a gun, but you can't have bullets.
Or..lets have sex, but we can't touch.
IT'S RETARDED. Fair enough if the game was Pokemon or something, but its not, its Renegade, you go round shooting the fuck out of each other for fun.

Its not massive at all, something goes wrong, say you burn your hand, you swear. You die, you swear.
Simple.
Its like football matches in England supporters chant swear words at the top of their voices..do you think parents stay away and keep their kids away?
Fuck do they. The parents(notably the dad) is probably chanting it too. Lets face it, i knew every swearword in the book by the time i was 9 or so. The whole logic of this protecting kids is complete shite.

I totaly agree on alot of what you just said.
But I think that making such a rule is outrageous is cause there isnt any laws against people swearing, unless you go over the top and get nicked by a cop for disturbing the peace.
Most people who are for the no swearing rule says its to protect the kids who are watching or playing, well they shouldnt be watching or playing anyway, as the game has a 15+ age rating (my country) and as the game is full of death and all about killing... makes no swearing seem abit silly.

Server owners are in charge of their own server, period. It's not naziism... it's a dictatorship. They pay for the server to be there. It's like visiting their home. If they don't want you to swear in their home, they will kick you out if you do. It's very simple. Personally, I won't try take part in raising other people's kids.
I'm the bawss.
