The only gripe I can bring to mind is neither XWIS nor RenegadeCommunity.com have, or have ever had, anything in the way of clan support for Renegade. I'm just saying, I've brought up a suggestion which will benefit everyone and be of detriment to no-one, and it seems to have fallen on deaf ears. On the ears of Electronic Arts, however, it's resulted in our league being sponsored with hundreds of dollars' worth of prizes, which I think is food for thought for all the EA-haters on this forum who claim they don't support the older games.

They don't, they pay other people to do it. AFAIK EA pays (or at least contributes to) the XWIS bandwidth bill.

Renegadecommunity.com support will probably rise to a 1000-fold of what it is now in a couple of days/weeks. Stay tuned...

As to this thread: the only thing I miss at the moment are regular updates on Renguard.

For the remaining we got:
- Core Patch 1 and 2;
- scripts version 10800;
- an active community forum where some people actually help others and a bunch of idiots come together to flame eachother but still the persons helping others make it all worthy;
- renegadewiki;
- renegadecommunity.com which is unsupported atm but should get the support it deserves very soon;
- Xwis running WOL the best it can. Allthough I cannot understand they still haven't put Renegade in their forum title and apparantly can't find a solution to the problems with serials, I do agree that they function quite nicely;
- A new Brenbot version in the making, allthough not by a BHS member;
- ...

So all in all, I don't think we're doing that badly. Moreover, I usually have a quick answer on my PM's from Crimson.

your opinion is null and void...

(sorry, couldnt resist ^^)

But I agree with what others have said, crimson does a lot more for this community than you give her credit for, and signing up here and immediatly asking her to resign is ludicrous...

Renegadecommunity.com was Renardin's idea, and all its used for is to push Reborn.

I read these forums several times a day. Just because I don't post in the general threads doesn't mean I'm not here. I still have TONS of dedication to this community.

Take the time to post more, and keep the community fresh then.
Quote:

If you think we're not doing anything, I might remind you that jonwil released scripts.dll 2.8 TWO DAYS AGO.

Are you jonwil?
Quote:

As for the rest of things, you have no idea what conversations have transpired between the person I talk to at EA (who is, incidentally, NOT Mike Verdu) and myself. Things move slowly at EA and I do not release information about things that may or may not happen until I have permission from them.

Thats the problem with you and EA, is that you just say "Hey, everyone who supports Renegade can wait, but I'm special, so I'll keep the community in the dark!"

Quote:

I also run one of the most popular servers in the game, serving out 2 terabytes each month.

Jesus, where do you get the cash for that bandwidth Very Happy

Quote:

Since n00bstories.com is a site for gamers in ALL online games, not just Renegade, there is no need for him to be even remotely interested in the game for him to be a great fit for his position.

n00bstories was all Renegade until people were suggesting that you add more games. You can't tell me that the majority of your basis isn't renegade.

If he and so many administrators in n00bstories (who incidentally are forum moderators and BHS staff?) have no interest in the game, why don't you pick from the SO many eager people in these forums to help you.

Quote:

I generally believe that if it isn't broke, don't fix it. While not everything at XWIS is running exactly as I would do it, I don't think the difference are enough to justify any sort of revolt against them. The servers are VERY stable, the ban tools work quite well, and Olaf and DonCarlo are very quick to respond to my emails if I have any problems. I can't ask for much more than that.

I think its enough for you, with power, to look at the topics about battleclans and push to get them implemented. There is NO reason at all why XWIS cant have clan support beyond that the administration is happy with the half-ass job we call the new WOL.
Quote:

Furthermore, all of the people YOU mentioned are current or ex script kiddies who could never be trusted with serials and IPs of players.

How irrelevant. At least they have the initiative to write fully functioning WOL clones. if you're so much better than the "ex script kiddies" why don't you prove it by getting a decent WOL going.

So, I have spent most of the day in my pool and eating barbecued steak.

I had steak too, it was mad good.

I don't allow fucktards to speak for me. You being a fucktard please do not speak for me, ever.

You forget one simple thing. Crimson is a PERSON who has a life and a job that pays her. She does not recieve a pay check from this community, as a matter of fact to have a great server to play on and Renguard to keep all servers cheat free she goes in the red month after month after month. A total number that astounds me every time.

Reguardless of everything even if I did agree with you and want Crimson gone who would replace her? There is not a single person worthy of the job nor a person who has the $ to support it.

First, luv2pb, you are a person in an administrative position and your opinion should just be disregarded because you're blinded from what the common player sees.

What does that have to do with anything? I go on the red every month and so does everyone else with a credit card.

Who are YOU to speak for everyone. How can you even judge something like that? Look at all the people that post here every day, volunteer to help, and generally give a fuck. I'm talking about the people who put politics aside and do whats best for the game. Spending money on a stupid FDS does nothing for the community. Why doesn't she spend time FIXING things that are important to the community.

Any how many people do you think would trust someone who was a "script kiddie" in either the past or the present be trusted with passwords or ip addresses?

Crimson has a social life, she works for the servers she has. She supports the Renegade community in every-way possible. Just look at RenGuard, all the server their are run and owned by Crimson.

Crimson isn't jonwil BUT jonwil is helping to develop Renegade and fix existing bugs and if possible, add new features. NOT everyone is good at everything! We all have our own strengths and weaknesses.

EA have never been efficient, it is unfair to blame Crimson about the slowness. Have you ever tried to send in a support ticket? Mine normally take at least 2 days to get answered, and still mostly the solution isn't correct!

XWIS was chosen by EA. BHS may have had little input but with the ONLY server for Westwood games that has been running for a long time now, so it is the best choice. They have managed to survive even when WOL was around.

Crimson is an active moderator, I see her on the current users on-line section almost every day. Although she does NOT post every day, I don't expect her, like me, she has a social life.

IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, GO AWAY!

Again, you have forgetten that the reason WOL died is because Olaf convinced EA that he could run it. Had Crimson cared, she would have looked beyond her stupid game server and become concerned in the future of WOL. Instead she was just apathetic about the whole thing and decided "Oh well" knowing that she and the PEOPLE WHO ARE KNOWLEGEABLE about WOL would have easily ran WOL better than Olaf.

I know Crimson has a working alternative for WOL when it died, BUT XWIS has been stable for a long time, and is the best solution. It was tested by EA, they decided the outcome. If you have problems with XWIS, Why are you complaining here? GO TO TALK OLAF HIMSELF http://www.strike-team.net/

Because of my administrative position being so close to Crimson I see more than you can ever imagine. I talk to more community members in a hour than you have in the last week. I know what Crimson, n00bstories, BHS, strike-team, ect are working on and doing to better Rengeade. But what I do not know is who you are and why you think you have the slightest clue what is going on around you.

You may go in the red yes, but not for this game you don't. Or let me guess your next story is that you either run or have ran a server in the past?

I did not speak for everyone. I gave statements that are mine and mine alone.

Olaf van der Spek says:

Joey says:
ok.

Talking to him is pretty useless if you ask me. Besides if only you guys knew what really happened. I'm asking her to leave nicely before I completely stain her reputation.
