vsmon.exe is a processs associated with the ZoneAlarm personal firewall. It is used to monitor Internet traffic and generate alerts depending on the security rules configured by the user.

I hope you're not trying to install 2 security programs; you'll have to uninstall ZoneAlarm first.

Make anti-virus rescue discs at another computer and run a cold boot with them.

Since i have my computer partitioned (win98 & xp pro), If anything like this happens to me, i simply boot up in the other OS and delete the troublesome files.
But in your case, i would delete the file through dos, through booting up at the start. That is if you are dos literate?

You may also want to try networking with a protected computer and virus scanning through the network. Ive done that with my friends computers, worked well.

Ewido bugged the heck out of me, labeling tracking cookies as critical, just to increase it's detection count.

Back in the old days that was true, but you can get more than one firewall to play nicely on a system (if your careful I presume but i've never had an issue mixing/matching), same for anti-virus.

Edit: In this case though, your correct, Norton does NOT play nicely with anything else. It demands total submission. (Though I haven't used it enough to ascertain this completely)

Start -> Run -> type cmd the click ok

Type:

cd\
C:\[Path to file]

once you are in the folder with the file type:

attrib vsmon.exe -r
del vsmon.exe

Problem solved. Very Happy

One more thing, if you still get the sharing problem boot into safe mode and repeat the same steps.
