lol? It's not locking on. It's the camera causing the weapon to fire lower than it's really supposed to, yet another Renegade bug. Basically, what you think is locking on would be you aiming at their chest and the projectiles hitting their head. You can be just as accurate, if not more so, if you practice in first person.

It does lock...aim a bit over the head and see for yourself.

Even if it does lock, you're basically advocating assisted aiming, like in the lowest difficuty level in single player.

You're telling me that that first person takes more skill than than third person, which helps my point--Even if you do kill me more often, I'm a better person.

its so much easier than in 1st person where you actually have to aim for the head for it to count.

So you're saying that someone playing in first person most of the time is more skilled, since it's harder to make headshots and they still take you down like a bitch. Brilliant point to make.

Yes, if he's as good as I am by only using 1st person, then sure. I've never seen any really good person use 1st person, tho.

1v1 in a team-based game (Read: Renegade) don't mean a damn thing, except perhaps who's better at 1v1. I'm not claiming to be good at 1v1. I probably suck. I'm good at Renegade.

1v1 can demonstrate who has more skill at Renegade. And while there's more than just ability required to win large games of Renegade (i.e. strategy is necessary too), it's tough to be "good at Renegade" if you don't have any skill.

I'm talking about aiming abilities...so 1v1 sniping? I'll leave this forums forever if you manage to kill me once before I kill you 10 times in a 1v1 on Islands.

A setup 1v1 is only for the egoists, it just shows how good you are solo against a specific solo player without any backup.

Not exactly something you'd find in a real game....

Field 1v1 proves how good you are with a tank. And tanks are the most commeone things to be used in Renegade. Your not going to win the game with a patch or a sydney.

But teamwork is a skill too. to be honest I think that if you put up the best 1v1 Ren players with eachother. That wouldn't mean that they would make the best team.

btw 3dperson ftw. But I like to play in 1st sometimes just because you can see the Gun and for a change.

But you don't need the best individuals to have the best team. You can have the best team with good individuals.

gse was a good clan not only because we played well as a team but also because individually it had very talented members. Thus, when faced with an opponent who was equally or close to equally organized we were still able to win.

Exactly. We could rely on our pilots out-flying the enemy pilots, our sniper out-sniping the enemy sniper, etc...those are the individual skills that win games.

Aw, I don't want you gone. I like having you here in the forums.

I'm not that good at sniping. I havn't mastered the "Sniper's Twitch", so there's little doubt that you'll beat me, but I'll take up the challenge anyway. You know, for the fun of it. 1v1 no basekill 500 snipers only? I might get you once... Listen

My point:
Large games = Require strategy
Small games = Require tactics
1v1s = Require "Skill", I guess?

Renegade, while an FPS, is still a C&C game at it's core. It takes Strategy and Tactics to win. Seriously, when have you ever seen 2 solo units duking it out in any other C&C? Renegade is really no differant. It's still C&C: Renegade.

Games of "Skill" would be like Counter-Strike, where winning or losing is more or less a matter of shooting straighter. I'll gladly challenge JohnDoe to a 1v1 in Counter-Strike, any day. Big Grin

This thread is about 1st or 3rd person...it's not about tactics or strategies, it's about aiming abilities/skill. I said that I have yet to meet someone who can shoot as good as me by using 1st person...you said that you think you're good, so I challenged you.

When do you have 30 mins spare?
