Dont you just love dictatorship servers lol. i just got kicked from a "A Path Beyond" server, wich has "no Tanya" as a rule, just because i voiced my opinion and thought the rule was stupid, i follow the rules but i am entitled to my opinion, and the silly n00b kicked me lol, this was A1 APB server, so what are you guys take on servers run in this.... no free speach fashion? Big Grin

Meh, it's not a dictatorship; they have a right to impose whatever bogus rules that mess with game mechanics they want. Just like you have every right not to use their retarded server.
I got kicked for trying to get people to move to a different server, which they're well within their right to do, so I'm not complaining.

People will eventually leave that server and move on to others that aren't governed by people ignorant of the game's mechanics.

It would still be a dictatorship, by the definition of the word... if it's one guy, or a select few, who have total control and can make up the rules as they go along. It's a server, not a country, but it's still a dictatorship.

Whether or not a dictatorship is always a bad thing, is a difficult question to answer. The word "dictatorship" is generally used with negative connotations, so I doubt many server owners would welcome the term. I think it's a perfectly reasonable application of the word, if the people in charge are bound by no rules but their own.

Well, no-one is obliged to host a server, it's a service to the community, so in that respect they can do what they wish.

If you don't like it you can play elsewhere. Servers are dictatorships by their very nature.

On top of the stupid no Tanya rule, A1 server messed up the game balance totally with the crappy starting money. With 900 starting credits, the soviets get Tesla Tanks on first dump on most of the maps and Mammoth Tanks on the first dump on RA_Bunker. Not to mention that I get WARNED for having the highest ping and they actually "recommended" people to shut off background program to "reduce" latency (even it is does, it would be minimal). He failed to know the fact that the only servers for Red Alert: APB are half a globe away for me. (They did remove that warning for high pingers, though)
