You need to create the name by logging in with it in your Renegade client.
Most a000 names are taken by serevrs that want to be high up the list. You probably will not find one that isn't used. If it's just for testing, you can use any name and test. There are enough decent serevrs out there anyway, no need for yet another empty server.
