I've never been a console fan, but I gotta go with the revolution. I hear you can use N64 controllers with it, and the N64 had the best controllers EVER.
|
OMG! i was just holding my N64 thinking the exact same thing. I have always argued this. Well except when i was a lil kid at school as i had a ps an i thought it was the bomb an i would argue for it all the way like a dumbass.
Guess what happend when my mate invited me round to his to play it. After 2 days worth of playing i had to have 1 and i knew the controller was the best controller out. The only prob with the N64 controller was the analog would get a bit stiff over time. Otherwise its the most comfortable controller ive ever used.
And if u can use it on revolution then thats brilliant! Im gettin a revolution, but not till like 3 - 4 years time when i can pick it up dirt cheap second hand. I havent even got a gamecube yet.
"I'm not judging the controller by the amount of buttons, I'm judging it by how it would work and feel. It's the dumbest idea ever for a controller"
I couldn't disagree with you more. Whats wrong with how it would work... you use the remote controll part by movement, have u not read about read about how the revolution controller works? As for how it would feel.... i cant see how the feel of that would be a problem at all, ur left had is free to move, your right hand is free to move, the left part had the analog placed nicly under ur thumb, the controller part looks quite comfortable when u look at side shots, its kinda beefy unlike an actual remote for your tele.
Compare this to the 360 that i tried about a month or so back in gamestation. The controller was nothing special, rather orkward actualy with how low down the analog and direction part was to get my thumb on to. I mean i cant say for definate that the revolution wont feel uncomfortable but its hard to say if u havent tried it.
Also i agree that PC's are better than any consol, you can play online, u can get patches and updates, u can get trainers, you can get skins and MODS! and a keyboard and mouse is the ONLY way u can play a FPS, any1 who says otherwise is a moron.

Via Xbox Live, you can get updates to games, download mods, skins, new areas, and you can play online.
No, anyone who says that you can play an FPS on anything other than the keyboard and mouse is perfectly correct. However, anyone who says that the keyboard and mouse aren't the best choices, is wrong. Atleast in my eyes, anyway.

You should keep busy with that Call Of Duty, because it looks like the only decent game coming out for a while...
Xbox controllers always felt awkward to me. The PS2's DuelShock is okay, but the N64's controler is fantastic! I hadn't played N64 for about six or seven years until two weeks ago, when a friend brough his. I sucked at all the games, but the controller felt really comfortable.
Consider that the N64 controller is the only one you can use to play one-handed, thanks to the central analog stick and tigger "Z" button in the back. I'm not sure WHY you'd want to play one-handed, but it's there if you need it.

Even after you explained how it would work, it makes me feel even less willing to try it. I hate TV remotes, they piss me off, so this would piss me off just as much. Even if it didn't have millions of buttons. I'm sorry, but I find it ridiculously STUPID to be pointing a controller at the TV and just the way you would use it.

I will be buying none of the above, because I have a desktop that needs upgrading and that will pretty much eat and digest my whole entertainment/electronic gizmo budget for a good 6 months or so. Even if I had the money, I'd wait about a year until the price drops to a reasonable level, because I am not willing to blow $350+ on a single-purpose machine.

The opportunity to play some truly innovative games appeals to me, despite the fact I can't see it working for all game types. Coupled with the fact that you'll be able to download and play game from the NES, SNES, Genesis/Megadrive, N64, Gamecube and more I can't resist.

HOLY CRAP, I CAN PLAY EXCITABIKE!?! ...I'm getting this thing... After I upgrade my PC. I may have put off the 360, but I'm in dire need of an upgrade.

FMhalo wrote on Sun, 26 March 2006 20:46 | Yeah, it would suck using the revolution controller for fps games.
|
what? being able to point directly where u want to shoot would suck? how is that any different from actualy pointing a gun at ur screen, its even got a trigger button underneath like Z on the n64 controller.
so you would rather nintendo stick with the same old crap like microsoft and sony? using an analog stick to look around? The old controllers for fps is the worst ever. I picked up xbox 360 in a store and there was a world war2 style fps playing, i didnt even get a minute of gameplay out of it because i just couldnt control where i was pointing or how fast i was turning.
when ps1 and n64 came out for me it was the best thing since sliced bread. Gaming had changed forever. Right now i dont see anything changing except graphic updates. I overheard some guy talkin just last week saying all a consol is, is a graphics card. Only differences i see in consols now are things like xbox live and harddrives and dvd players... thing is i already have a pc...
