Crappy Perfomance on Multiplayer [message #189636]

So here that is... I'm getting 20-30 FPS on Multiplayer and a good clean 60 FPS thats always stay at 60 in Singleplayer, basically I know it's normal since MP have more to do for the VGA... but how come I'm getting a better FPS in BF2 with higher settings (resolution and such) then Renegade in 64 players server while in Ren I play in 32 players server...

I just changed my computer and there is no difference with my FPS in Ren, but in other games it does!

Anyway here my setup

CPU: AMD 64 Dual-Core 3800+
MB: Abit KN8-Sli
VGA: Biostar Nvidia GeForce 6600GT<
HDD: Western Digital SATA 300gb/s 200gig
Memory: OCZ Ultra High Perfomance Dual-Channel 2X512mb
PSU: Coolmax 600W

Could it be something wrong in the french version of Renegade, or the NO-CD crack that cuz this? Since I do not think I should get that FPS when I compare to others peoples having lower setup than mine and running Ren smoother!

Strange with a system like that.. you should be able to play renegade on MP VERY smoothly.... I never dip under 40fps and I've got a radeon 9000 with a barton 2800+, for all intents and purposes almost half of what you have now.

Larger MP servers tend to add strain on the cpu more I would think, check your motherboard/chipset drivers for updates, as well as, of course, your Nvidia forceware.

Everything up to date, it's brand new, got it like 5 days ago. The CPU isnt overloaded when Renegade is running, both cores are a bit more then 50% used and the memory isnt fully used. Less than 75% used when running Renegade. I'll ask a friend to borrow me is english version to see... since he got a 733mhz with my old crappy VGA GeForce 2 and got same FPS as I do

Also the system is not hot at all when running the game, CPU stay under 32C and system same, so the poor perfomance arent due to over heat

Your saying you got Radeon 9000 and got a 40FPS, I had 30FPS at max with my 9550 on a AMD Athlon 1.333GHZ overclocked to 1.5GHZ with 768 memory... I guess something wrong with my game or something :S

Make sure you don't have any AA or AF running through the drivers. In the global driver settings both AA and AF should be set to "Application controlled."

Or if you haven't updated your drivers yet, I suggest you do that. Just because it's brand new doesn't mean all of your drivers are up to date.

Well since I downloaded everything from Nvidia website and did not use the included CD it should be up to date, I assembled the machine all togheter too, it's a custom comp.

AA and AF is set to Application Controlled. I thought these FPS could have been cuz I had a clone image running on TV without purpose, I deactived it and same shitty FPS...

It's strange but about every person I know that got a kickass new video card, runs every game smoothly except Renegade. There, they got 70-80 FPS but from the moment there's some action, it drops down to 30.

Could someone check how this could come?

You dont have any P2P or MSN running while this is up do you?
That slows me down quite a bit usually.

Other then that, your computer is very good. I cant think of a damn thing that would slow you down.

I'm not sure if this will help or not, but play around with different driver versions. Roll back to a version that doesn't use multithreading and see if you get better performance.

Well I found out some drivers are outdated or just need a little change. I'll fix it this afternoon, got my Thermaltake Tsunami case yesterday so I didnt had time to fix drivers. This case own:P Ooo TD, ur sexy.
