I'm finally getting a new computer soon (building it from newegg.com), including shipping, it'll be about $985, $180 of which is the monitor. I'm getting:

MSI K8N Neo4-F Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
Corsair 2 x 512MB DDR 400 PC3200
Geforce 6600GT 128MB
Maxtor 100GB HDD

Microsoft Windows XP Professional X64 Edition
A 19" CRT Monitor

One question. Which is better, the Geforce 6600 256MB, or the Geforce 6600GT 128MB? The 256MB 6600 is about $20 less, but is the more memory worth the less performance and $20 less?

Also, I have $55 in donations right now, and will have $900 in about a week for some paid modeling work, so I'm short about $30. So I'm asking if there's anyone here that would like to donate some (you're not limited to $30 by the way... Wink ), even a little bit. My Paypal account is my email, "sirphoenixx@gmail.com". Thanks in advance.

More video RAM does not equal more performance. 6600GT is much better, especially at higher resolutions, with AA and AF.

6600, on the other hand, isn't even powerful enough to use the extra memory. A 9800 Pro would beat it.

overall looks like a good setup. im just not sure why your price is so high. when i tally that up at newegg i get something a bit less.

in any case, stick with the 128 GT. in that range, the ram doesnt make enough of a difference.

I didn't list all of the parts, that's just what matters.

I'm also getting a CD R/RW DVDR combo drive, two case fans, a pack of CD-RWs, a surge protector, and a 4-1 combo ATX Tower (includes speakers, keyboard, and mouse).

Without shipping it's about $750, $900 with the monitor.

With shipping, it's about $800, or $986 with the monitor.

I'd say go for a 6800 because it's only $20 more. It's also definitely worth that extra $20. It surpasses the 6600GT quite far, but it lacks the 256mb memory. If you really insist on getting a 6600 series card, get the 6600GT 128mb.

Well, you could also get a cheap NF4 motherboard and get a 6800GS.

Lowest 6800 on newegg.com: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E168141700 93
$169.00

The 6600GT I'm getting: http://www.newegg.com/product/Product.asp?item=N82E168141331 29
$122.00 in a combo with the processor.

If I have enough when I order it, I'll upgrade some parts...

But when it's not in a combo it is in fact $20 more.
