Well, the "damage has been done" so to speak (no, that's not a subtle anti-war remark). They might as well finish what they started by leaving Iraq somewhere to start anew instead of leaving them in a mess.

No, just send in a bunch of mercenaries instead, they'll be handling the trouble their way. Wink

i heard in 2006 that Bush is planning for massive troop pullouts. This was from a local radio so I don't know if it's true or not.

Bush can only make them stay 3 more years, then it will be up to a different president.

As I understand, WMDs were the original idea.

But, since there are no WMDs there, we may as well continue to help stabilize the government. Well, YOU should, Canada thankfully never got into it.

No. Seriously. No.

Bush has said we'll stay until the job is done.
The job could be done as early as next year, or it could be a bit longer. By most modern measurements of victory, though, Iraq has been and continues to be a resounding success, and signs for a bright and optimistic future are very apparent. This is in spite of how the anti-Bush media like to play up every little story about "insurgent" attacks while burying the good news in the back pages of the newspapers, not to mention accepting every allegation of "torture" and "abuse" as absolute truth and plastering more pictures of Abu Ghraib at every possible moment.

Also:

We have been over this many times before; the war was waged for three main reasons: 1) Saddam's failure to fully disclose all weapons of mass destruction in accordance with the cease0fire ending the first Gulf War as well as numerous UN resolutions; 2) Saddam's harboring and giving aid and comfort to known international Islamic terrorist groups; and 3) to liberate the oppressed Iraqi people from a brutal dictator that has a long history of torturing his very own people.

How many Iraqi soldiers do we have fully trained and mobilized?

When you make a mess, you need to clean it up Wink. This is not an anti-war message, i think the invasion was justified but now the US also need to (and do) take their responsability and stay until the mess they made (war is always messy) is cleaned up more or less.

Yup, and that's exactly what we're doing; we're establishing a stable government of, by, and for the Iraqi people and training a military of Iraqis for their own personal protection so that they can take over when we do leave.
A large amount of the progress we have made thus far in the Iraq war has been eloquently summed up by none other than Democratic Senator Joe Lieberman in an op-ed article for the Wall Street Journal. It's rather long, but it is well worth the read.

Just so everyone has a chance to read this:

Some comments from Iraqi Vice President Ghazi al-Yawer.

Too bad George Bush can't tell the truth.

Um...

George Bush didn't know Iraq was going poorly? BTW, I wasn't talking about WMDs, or rather the lack thereof, here.

But while we're on the topic, how do you think George Bush managed to lead the country to war based entirely on lies? Was it really not his fault at all?

One of my friends just became a Marine and he's leaving in February for a 14-month deployment in Fallujah. He's actually lucky because he'll be working with the computer network there and be in 72-degrees F all day.

I'm the bawss.

I thought you were referring to the WMDs.
