Well i need mIRC up and running all day everyday (for my server) i do normally close down MSN but at that moment in time people thought it would be a nice idea to message me anyhoo, with the event viewer i have TON's of red crosses, so ill show ya some shall i?

Did you do anything before you started having these problems, such as installing a program, updating a driver, etc? Does the problem only occur with ren or has it happened with other applications? Have you done virus and malware scans recently to make sure your computer isn't infected with anything? Maybe try cleaning your registry or running windows update and as light said try running it without any other programs running.

I just noticed that you have been having this problem for a year. As much as I hate to say it your best bet may be to backup any important data and reinstall windows.

All the virus an spyware, drivers and everything ive done, checked.. Yes ive had this for about a year now.. I recently completey formatted.. everything i had was gone, no backups nothing.. i installed xp pro sp2 and i still get the problem..
EDIT : Yes this only happens with Renegade... I can play FEAR, FarCry AoE3 and it will run without dying on me.

Care to give some more info? about hardware ecta..
Also I think I know the solution, if you don't mind formating once more.
-Reinstall Windows, Install sp1. Don't install Sp2.
So no slipstreaming or whatever.
Install Renegade, but install a good firewall and antivirus.
Because without sp2 you will mis alot of fixes, but I think that this wil fix the problem. Try this, and tell me what hapens.

happens to me randomly too..i already reinstalled like 3 times and got rg and i got like 3 virus/spyware scanners..and deleted the virus and stuff..but it still happens randomly..ussually like once every 8rhs...sometimes it doesnt do it for like 10hrs..but it happens sometimes..idk its something with your computer because it happens to other programs i have sometimes too...defragging wont work cuz i do that like 2 times a week......it..just restart rengade i guess..it just sucks when i got like a SBH wit nuke and ur bout to plant it... that would sux...or when ur bout to snipe a guy..
o well...i just restart it
wait..it really sucks when ur playin in the server u like and then u get booted and your spot gets taken - ;d
and dont re-install windows...unless you wanna lose all your files..in my case like over 2k of songs

tbh, the problem is SP2 I think, so try to get your hands on a Windows XP Home or pro, without sp2 then Istall Ren First. If this isn't the case. Then I have the feeling it has to do with you gfx drivers. New games do require updated gfx drivers, but for old games this does not count. Because New drivers isn't always the best as they do not support a Game like Renegade in it anymore.
Sp2 seems to be having ''problems'' with older programs, atm alot of develepors and company's have fixes, but Ren doesn't so your going to have to try this.
Also, I see that your running Windowed Mode, does it hapen without too?
@ random Renegade crashes. Renegade crashes once in a while, but it is not to crash as often as this guy has. A way to dicrease Renegade crashing is by lowering the gfx to 640x480 detail, and by running it on 16bit lowest. This is how I could play Ren 24/7 without it crashing once. When you run higher detail it will crash more. But still it should be like once or 2 a day assuming you play the entire day. Sometimes it doesn't hapen at all.

It shouldn't be a problem with SP2. If it was, this would be far more common. Mine never crashes like that on either rigs, although sometimes it just reboots the whole PC.
Latest drivers shouldn't be a problem either, I have Nvidia's latest, and they don't crash.
There's a hole in the sky through which things can fly.

Try going back to full mode. When I used to use windowed mode, the game would crash every time I took a screenshot.

T-Bird suggested it was SP2 so i did reformat with my Home Ed(sp1)But that didnt make any diff what so ever.. You also suggested about my drivers, well i've had this problem for a year and there has been plently of *New* drivers* since then.
I play in both windowed and non windowed..
Ive spoke to other people and they suggested for me to turn of the audio acceleration and now it crashes maybe 4x per day and not like 4x per map...
