Got a 1gig MP3-player for about 99 € about 4 months ago and it works like a charm...

I can certainly admit there are things cheaper than Apple products, but it's difficult to want to when Apple stuff just plain WORKS. I bought two Airport Expresses for my house because they just WORK. You plug them in, configure them (which takes about 2 minutes), and they just WORK. I use them for Airtunes... you can go to any computer in my house, load iTunes, and immediately stream music to either one of the Airports. And it just WORKS. I never have to fiddle with them, reboot them, or anything. No funky adapters to play with, no dealing with network issues. It found my network and used it without complaint.

Same with my shuffle. I plug it into USB, start up iTunes, and drag and drop files to it. Or I can have pre-configured playlists or automatically-generating Smart playlists to get the songs I want onto it. Then I go in my car, switch to "Aux" mode on my sound system, plug the headphone jack via headphone-to-RCA convertor cable to my car's RCA inputs, turn it on, press play, and I'm done.

I mean, there's plenty of choice out there but the Apple stuff just works without hassle and that's worth extra bucks to me.

I'm the bawss.

Apple isn't the only brand that just plain WORKS. Creative also WORKS. Everyone I have talked to who has a Creative MP3 player has said it WORKS without any issues whatsoever. We're not saying that iPod is bad quality, we're just saying that it's not the only brand out there that is high quality... there are a lot of other ones that are just as high quality and they're cheaper.

Apple has a strong brand, based on quality and people are willing to pay for that. It's the exact same as Nike or adidas. Many other shoes are just as good but you pay for the brand. Nothing wrong with that Smile.

Thing is, it is overpriced but as long as people buy it, what's the problem with it Razz.

Apple's products are not exactly geared twoard the technically smart.

The worst problem that I've had with my MP3 player is the buttons not working. They would just turn the back light on. Which was easily fixable by just removing the battery for a few seconds. Some pictures that I took a while ago of my MP3 player with a webcam.

The problem is that it's annoying how everyone at school will just buy an iPod to show it off, and how nearly everyone thinks that iPod is the best because of the brand name. It IS a good MP3 player, but that isn't my point.

Exactly, they're good for sure. I don't think they're the best though. I personally think it's somewhat of a fad.
