A "company" doesn't have to sell products for there to be a customer service basis. All there had to be is someone using the product. Any assistance received by the "company" who made the product is "customer service".
customer service
Definition: assistance and other resources that a company provides to the people who buy or use its products or services

I was referring to this comment.
"They must solve the problem, yes"
which, to me, does not seem applicable if the product or service is provided free of charge.
