The worst imaginable thing has just happened to me at the worst possible time. To start, I am failing my math class, the one and only class I am failing. My parents have decided to have a little "talk" with me about my grade. Well, parents are just fucked up, and confusing as hell. First off, my computer is my life, sad but true. I have been spending the last 3 years teaching myself html, you all remember that, and C++, and many many other things. They think it is so cool that I have been learning C++, and doing all the cool things I do on my pc. Only to say, "We are taking your computer away for 9 weeks." WHAT THE FUCK! They know dam well that I want a career in the computer industry, I have spent most of my time these past 3 years doing nothing but teahing myself everything I could imagine. They think it is so cool, yet, they take my one god dam tool away. They "want" me to have and use my computer, and they "don't" want to take it away. Yet they do. At school, I have 4 computer classes, C++, HTML, Computer Hardware, and photoshop, and my god, they take my computer away. For 9 fucking weeks. The worst part of it all is that they are taking EVERYTHING that has to do with a computer away...my computer books, disks, everything. If you were to take all that away out of my room, it would be literally naked, with nothing in it at all. So now for the next 9 weeks I get to come home from school, do my homework, and then do absolutely nothing until I go to bed.

See you all in 9 weeks.

If I were you I would begin to sabotage things. Wage a domestic war. That's always been my plan if my parents went too far. You tout yourself as having some computer prowess. Slowly start disabling things. Oven Clock, TV, Garage Door Opener. Don't make it look like it was disabled make things look like they broke. Removing actual board components on your electronics is good as no one can tell when one's gone most of the time.

Wow. 9 weeks over just starting to fail just 1 class. 9 weeks is too long. 1 week might have been fair.

Honestly, you do use math pretty much in every day life, but most of it is now automated into electronics, so you really don't need to learn it. For most everybody, arithmatic is all you need to know for math, and you learn that in elementary.

My parents took away my keyboard once, and that's when I went and bought two more keyboards, so they couldn't get away with it the next time they did it. Smile My parents don't have the energy or patience to actually take the computer out of my room, not even my monitor. That worked out to my advantage.

whoa.

They must think that you are too "wrapped up" in your computer to study, or spending too much time online or something. Perhaps offer them a compromise, that you won't play any games or use the internet for anything non-academic for a month, to see if it helps your grades.

Explain to them that you are taking computer classes, and entirely taking the computer away may make you study more for math, but your computer studies will suffer if you don't have a PC to use at home.

Yeah, my generation is speaking here. All the things they said are what we do. Take their shit, or hide their keys. You would be amazed what they will agree to when they are ten minutes late for work.

You'd also be amazed at what the wrath of parents can do when they are embattled. Believe me when I say your parents will always win if they ever find out that you're behind all of the problems.

I may not like you, but I wouldn't wish this on you. Not even a week. I'm a computer junkie, and I know how hard it can be to lose it. The longest I ever lost it was a month, and I managed to shorten that by 2 days.

I am sorry that you're losing your computer for 9 weeks, which is a bunch of bullshit for math, but I can't do anything about it. Read. Grab a random book and read. I suggest The Hobbit, and the Dragonlance series.

Yeah, exactly. I'd only be fucking myself over by causing them problems. The only proper solution is to find a way around the restriction, not to fight back.

What I didwhen i wasn't doing to well in school, was I had my bro Zip up and password protect ALLmy game's .exe's. It worked wonders. (Just remember the directories they went in.)

Wow you must have some pussy-assed parents. If my dad took away my car keys, and I then produced another copy of my keys and drove it anyway...I would be in the weekend obituary column.

I have never lost my PC's not even at the worst of times. The most they did was Bios password protect it (brother saw me do it once). Battery out -> Password gone. Done, lol...

Yeah, this kind of thing sucks. I had the computer taken away for approximately a month for swearing at my cousin. 'Twas not fun. Not only that, my mom is threatening to take away the computer if my grade for World History is above a C. It's not that I don't do well on tests or anything, no. I don't remember to do my work, and my teacher accepts no late work. That reminds me; I have to do my homework for that same class. Rocked Over

Heh I realized how strict my parents were, when I went to a friends house, and he started swearing at him mom. We were in his room doing something on the computer, and she called for him, and he heard her but didn't answer...she called him again, and he's like "GODAMMIT MOM IM FUCKING COMING IN A FUCKING MINUTE OKAY??? WE'RE BUSY RIGHT NOW!! FUCK!!".

Words cannot describe how terrified I felt at that moment. I felt like diving under the desk to avoid the holy hell that would surely rain down due to the death sentence he had bestowed on us both. I couldn't move, or breathe...I think I shit on myself a little. He looked at me and was like "what the hell?", and I said "dude...you just said "fuck" to your mom...", and he was like "so? she was yelling at me.".

I was stunned to say the least. If I had said something like that to my mom, my dad, my aunt, uncle, heck ANY adult I thought, I would be drawn and quartered on the spot.

Ah well this was back in the day when they used to have capital punishment at school...all the teachers had huge wooden paddles and if you commit such grave offenses as "talking", or "chewing gum", you were brought in front of the class and savegely beaten.

Kids these days...lol...if a teacher tried to do that they would get sued, or a gat pulled on them. Big Grin
