I've tryed, but no one plays on WOL nemore.... a few are on gamespy, but I cant play because of "Connection refused.... version missmatch"... In otherwords: CP1 vs 1.037 and it doesnt like that.

how can I uninstall CP1? or are there really ppl plying out there that i for some reason cant see? (and yes, ive tryed the "refresh" button!)

im sad that no one is playing renegade nemore! Huh Dont Get It

what WOL server are you on? Euro and USA WOL have 20+ servers 24/7...

sounds like you might need to reinstall ren or CP1, there might have been a problem when installing it...

yea.... last install i got and "error 17"..... but it wasnt showing servers befor, either.... (i had un installed renguard to see if it would work..... (CP1 installed fine) but i reinstalled it (realizing CP1 was still installed) and got the error)

and just this moment... i got another error (diff this time) about some file verification..... can I UNINSTALL CP1?

also.... RenAlert seems to work.... i see one server (but have seen 2)... so idk.... its only in renegade that i dont see ne.....

to uninstall CP1 you must uninstall renegade and delete your renegade folder to clear all remains from CP1. Obviously if you have downloaded maps you should move them elsewhere first.

Then install renegade, patch to 1.037, install RenGuard and finally install CP1 (or leave CP1 uninstalled if you wish...)

How in the hell can you not see people in servers? try going into those servers anyway, your computer could just be slow, ive had that problem but itll fix itself in like 2 seconds.

havent gotten round to it... been doing other things....

not to mention hesitation due to the fact ive had all the renegade instalation horror stories out there.... and i dont want to go through it again.... i will eventually, though....

Check your Filters, first of all. If that doesnt work, then yes, uninstall it and reinstall it. Before you uninstall, find BOTH discs and have them right beside you, so you dont lose them. Do not leave the desk until you have swapped to the 2nd disc. Ive lost many discs by just getting up and leaving at random times.

u mean filters in renegade, right? if so, they should be fine, but ill check neway....

plus... i have a CD binder thing, so all my CDs are there (and the KEYS written on them)....

also, I have NEVER needed the DATA CD for any thing but movies and solo missions, and it doesnt ask for it during install... not to mention I fixed the needing it for movies..... (a little hack I discovered... feel free to ask me bout it).....

i wonder if any/all are caused because of WIN XP??

No.


Check your firewall settings if you cant connect to WOL.
I actually had this same problem not too long ago, appeared my
ISP f00ked up some things, you could as a last resort try
to email them about it.

Its common these days to have to Abort / Retry / Abort / Retry
connections for WOL all the time when trying to login. Its
because EA gave WOL the "best pc's around" .. (not)

Your message "version mismatch" means you have content in your
data dir which is not allowed. Such as vehicle models, objects.ddb
bones.ini etc.
Remove them.

In the other case, a mod on the server is not setup properly
causing players to not be able to join.

i also discovered that, lol

make a folder called movies in your data dir and copy + paste from the CD onto there

could the movies in the data dir be causing it? or even certain maps? (its only on GS that I get "version mismatch")

Hell no. Im running on Windows XP right now, and ive played Renegade quite a bit on this computer. Restart your computer, see if that works. Sometimes your computer just cant handle so many things at once, so it messes something up. And when was the last time you Defragged your computer?
