My hard drive that i boot from is failing me miserably, my os is freezing, crashing, hanging and falling to pieces...
I have ordered a new Western Digital one (just so that my storage HD and primary HD match, something that has always annoyed me).
Now seeing as I am gonna have to do what I should of done about Six Months ago and have to re-install Windows, i might aswell take this time to make it dual bootable and get linux on there too...
Anyone a linux user here? any suggestions to a good distro? I have fedora version 9 (shrike) downloaded from a while ago, and i have the latest mandriva distro too (10.2)...
The main things I want from it are:
Dual bootable so I can run windows xp pro and the linux distro (I know mandiva is good for this)
Support for as many drivers as possible (my machine is custom made and has some weird drivers on it, I have the drivers for windows, but am a linux newbie so it could be a problem)
All linux distro's are pretty secure so that isn't my main priority.
A built in linux remote desktop tool would be nice, the client and server too if possible... I want to use it to remote to a web-server that runs linux (redhat), if that helps (dont know if they have to be similar distro or not :/
I am not bothered too much about how long it can run for without a re-boot as I will mainly be working in windows anyway.
Not much to ask for is it?
Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated
