Two questions:
1:What the hell are(where) these things for?
2:Did/has anybody re-skinned their .dds files onto another model? if so,got a link? (eg:Skinning DINO over MUTRAV's W3D.)

I hear reskinning happens many times a year on sheep, who get their coat shaved off at predefined intervals on all sheep in a herd. This coat luckily grows back in, allowing the coat to be reskinned; making the sheep very useful to the landowner for making money out of his sheep skins.
These sheep skins, after bought, may be used for jackets; rugs; towels; general ornamentry or anything else a sheepskin is good for. A good example would be sheep skin pads, for use on horses' backs.

very distinguishable by its texture, sheepskins are great for keeping a working horse's back smooth, cool and healthy. Custom sheepskins, such as featured on this site happen to be very expensive but you may be able to find a cheaper one on the mainstream market.
Hope this helped answer your questions!

For God's sake, this honestly originated as an interesting topic. No one cares about the skinning of animals. Shakespeare used unconventional methods in language, such as using verbs as nouns, and was criticized for this; and yet, much of his work is accepted English today. The issue that's truly more interesting are these mysterious models. I always wondered about these models and what the Westwood team had in mind when they included them in the .dat files. I never found an explanation for them. Maybe just some weird bonus level as in the original C&C?

Nightma12 | they already have there own W3Ds
|
Yup
| Yea,but i'd like to use them on another character. (eg:somebody takes one of the skins and reskins them on another W3D such as the W3D for Hotwire.),or somebody rename the .W3Ds/.DDS files for use on another character. btw, here is the list of all of the 'freaks'...
MR.TICKLES.DDS
TRIKE.DDS
DINO.DDS
CHICKEN.DDS
DOLF.DDS
"C_GDI_MUTANT.DDS ;Initiate in GDI 'clothing'. not used ingame...may have something to do with a PT icon for mutants"
|
Actually, it was supposed to be a GDI version of the Initiate, I think.
Same with the 2 other mutants, but my guess is they never made it to the final cut. =/
As for the rest, my guess is as good as YSLMuffins...I have no idea. =p

lmao at replies....keep em coming.
what do you mean by use the dds files on another character. do you mean recompile the .dds with reference to another w3d's dds, so that these .dds will work with them? for example a dino monster with hotwire's face, body, legs and feet textures by using the dino's .dds. Doesn't sound like it would work because the w3ds for other characters are in different shape.
nightma12 used the dino & chicken on his server before for shits and giggles....someone should add them to a mod that turns them into one when they pick up a crate or something.
The hell with it....why not make everyone on a server with at least 20 !n00b commands used against them always spawn as a dino or chicken.

Nah. it'd be better on known cheaters. eg: w00tm^zt3r(made up name) joins a RG server and uses final ren. gets his ass banned after IRC kicks him finally. then his name is written down, and sent to BHS. and every month they release a cheater-patch. works with RG,and makes all cheaters spawn as 1 hp chickens,no weapons, cannot access PTs. instead of kicking them, this would be far more fun.
and somebody,i recall skinned DOLF over gunner. i cant find the skin, but gunner looked like some steroid-loaded clown. and what i meant, was apply the skin OVER the W3D. eg:take Mr.Tickles.dds and apply the .DDS over the W3D of the Chef. so the chef looks like Mr.Tickles, and such.
