OK, Here’s my take on the whole thing, I really didn’t feel I stole any thing from anyone, sense it came to me free with the software that I also received for free, All I did was very simple, took what was in the presets and added some of my stuff to it. No big deal. I did not use Ack’s map Glacier Flying to get any thing for my version, but if this is how so many of you feel, then fine, I won’t release the map. But I should say also that it’s a shame, the map is not that bad to play, it’s actually fun. But because so many of you feel the way you do, I will pull the map back. Hope this amends most of what was done.

I think the problem here is a small misunderstanding of how Level Edit works along with not being able to read the posts talking about this because they're burried/mixed-up with the flames.
See, in your Data folder, if the map Glacier_Flying.mix is there, when you make that preset in LE, it uses the w3d file from Glacier_Flying. Works with all models.
Trust me I didn't expect you to know this. It did go a bit far but I guess that's how things go when little misunderstandings happen. Next time just don't brag as much and check with one of the "pros" that you did it right
Also, do not wave it in front of ACK's face before you release it, in face don't say a word about the map before you release it. First make it look graphiclly good and add a few twists. Then suddenly pop up with it with a dl link so they can play it. That's more likely to generate good feedback. Then when you get tons of good feedback, that's when you have it in his face. There's some strat to modding/mapping
Notice: For those who can't tell, the last paragraph is actually mostly a joke just to cheer up the mood......
Edit: BTW, name calling isn't going to help. Best to ignore, trust me.

This is too little, too late. Your reputation in and around here will be scared for life.
Westwood never released Glacier Flying, they gave it to ACK, and he released it, the version that you got out of Commando is ACK's. So would you sit by and let someone take one of your maps, add a little bit of crap to it, and say it's theirs?

So... if you broke into a supermarket, and stole a frozen chicken, so it didn't cost you anything...
that would be OK too?
|
He's saying since Commando is free, the maps and everything in it is free, thus he can edit anything there and say it's his...
That would be like saying, it's wrong to steal from an amusement park that you have to pay to get in, but there's nothing wrong with stealing from an amusement park that's free to get in.
